Not good for what we need ina dog boot!!
Would you recommend this product?.: No
I have tryed this product several times with my hunting dogs and although I do like the tread (BEST ON THE MARKET) and I feel it is well built it just does not stay on my dogs feet! If they would simply add a second strap that came up another 3/4 to 1 inch up the dogs leg this product would stay on and be priceless!! PLEASE ADD A HUNTERS BOOT WITH THIS ADDTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After trying a couple of diffrent brands, and seeing my brother-in-law's Chocolate Lab burn through a different pair in less than an hour, I was looking for something a little more durable and rugged. Once I saw Vibram soles on a dog boot, I had to try them (call me old-school, but I thought that was just awesome). These boots rock. Simon will wear them without complaint, they keep his paws nice and protected from the environmnet, and he gets comments from everyone on his cool dog boots. Get the Ruff Wear socks as a liner to help keep pad chafing down (imagine wearing hiking boots without socks). If you take your dog hiking and value his paws, GET THESE BOOTS!!!

EXCELLENT!!!

I was out recently on a high-altitude canine search and rescue exercise. I believe in having boots available when the dog needs it and not for all round use. When my search partner started to show pad wear, I put on the booties and she was happy. Though not generally liking a boot on her feet, she quickly came to trust the grip of the Vibram soles on the steep granite, and was pleased of the padding within the bootie as well. If one slipped off, my partner would stop and wait for me to find the dropped bootie and have it put back on. Black is tough to see in places. Red is better. But a bright orange would be excellent to see when dropped.

Well made, but unfortunately the strap on the boot goes directly over my dogs due claw and irritates her to where she is limping. I called to find a solution and they couldn't give me one except to use the socks which didn't help.

Churchill and I come west in the summers to volunteer. Done three with NPS and this summer with Fish & Wildlife in the Bittrroot River Valley Montana. Churchill is on his 4th set of boots, having worn three completely out. He wears the four best of the previous three sets when we're in places like we are now, Tucson, and the ground is hot. He wears the most recent set when hiking. Cockers don't dig except when wearing Grip Tex boots. Latest product version is really terrific!

I have had issues with the boot rubbing with the velcro straps is; so I bought the socks, but then the socks fall down at the bottom of the boot, irritating my pup.Okay to protect the dogs pads when running on rocky terrian, but when in mud, my dog has lost one sock and one boot! Currently we have 2 socks and 2 boots remaining out of 4 :(

These boots are by far the best! They are great for hiking in the mountains and absolutely fabulous in the snow when we snowshoe. They are the only boots that will stay on...and we've tried many. The snow has a tendency to 'suck' the boots off the dogs feet and as long as they are PROPERLY put on (for those of you who complain about them not staying on), they stay put.

I am k-9 handler in the Florida panhandle, as you can imagine the extreme summer temperatures are rough on my partner, especially the asphalt in the roadway and parking lots. On a recent mission to we were tasked to assit the Secret Service, druing a Presedential visit to the area. This required me to search for a canine boot that would stay in place and be comfortable while worn. Extended explosive odor sweeps in parking lots and of vehicles which have been sitting in the sun produce temperatures that will burn my partners pads. I found Bark'n boots with grip trex and liked the concept. After the boots arrived I tried them on and with very little adjustment he was up and running. The fit was fine and his working time was increased due to the comfort that these provided. His climbing and running had no effect on them. Since my partners front paws are slightly smaller than his rear, I found that the rear boots were slightly too big, and would sometimes rotate on his foot . A small sock would correct the problem, but I am going to order a size smaller for his rear feet. ( order your boots in pairs seperately if needed.) Overall in 13+ years as a K-9 handler, these are a functional and well designed product. I will wholeheartedly recommend them , and will outfit the rest of our unit with them ASAP.

Great, have two sets!
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
These are not for all dogs, but if you can get your dog to wear them and not remove them they work really well. We have the red set for swimming (if they fall off they are easier to see in the water) and black set for everyday walking. They need to go on tight in order not to fall off, and a rubber band over the velcro tab helps keep them on in water - otherwise the swimming pulls the tabs back until they actually undo the boot. Our red swimming set takes a beating, and needs to be replaced after one year (probably about 60 swimming trips), but still worth the money. Be prepare for questions and comments when you take your dog out with them!

I love the design and the sole of the boot. It allows my Conservation Canine, scat detection dog to travel over sharp rocks, sand, sticks, lava rocks, ice, etc without ruining his pads. I think the small mesh is fantastic for keeping debris out of the boots and I really like the Vibram soles. I would like different straps to keep the boots on so that there is less debris and no worries about the Velcro coming loose.

These shoes are the first my dog ever tried, she needed XXS for her rear paws, they only stay on without the liners. I rather have seen them a bit longer. Her front paws are one size bigger and these shoes fit perfectly with or without liners! These shoes are very good for my dogs activities, running in the forest, running on hot surfaces like sand and asphalt, also playing on wet grass it gives her some much more fun, grip and safety!

After going to count less pet stores, only to fined the same ugly looking stocking type of dog shoe, I finaly walked into a store in Phoenix and found ruff wears grip trax boot. We tryed them on and they where a perfect fit. Finaly a shoe my dog likes and can wear on our hikes in the desert and keep his feet nice a cool when we are walking on the hot side walks here. We have been asked by every one where did we get those dog shoes? Thanks ruff wear for putting the fun back in walking with my best friend. He is happy and so am I.

Excellent Quality of the shoes. I do recommned them for every dog owner, except for those that have dogs with DewClaws. The velcro will go right at same area of the Dew claws. Last time I took my dog for a walk, the shoes were making her dew claw rub against her, and made her bleed. If the velcro was located a little bit higher, my dog would of been a happy camper.

Great quality - weird design
Would you recommend this product?.: No
The quality of the material, both fabric and soles is outstanding, but the design does not work (for my dog). The flat design is weird for a dog, which has an angled foot. These do not make the transition from the pad to the ankle very well, and are much too short to have good contact with the ankle. These just do not stay on. 5 stars for quuality, 1 star for design.

Of course, trying these on the first time was hilarious, but Diablo very quickly took to them. Now we don't have to worry about the hot asphalt, nor the hot sand by the river. To anyone that has trouble with sizing, go to a local retailer and ask where you can try these on your dog. You don't buy yourself shoes without trying them on first, do you?

Great job Ruffwear, you got it so right. The very best boot ever. The build and looks are great. The durability will have to be judged in time. Traction is great. Putting them on is very easy. The velcro strap works excellent. Boots stay on in grass, brush, and other activities. The key is getting the right sizes. Boots that get thrown off are simply the wrong size for THAT paw. Front and back paws are often different sizes. If one or two boots are still a little loose for paws in between sizes use 6mo baby socks (thick) since you will only find this out when used. If the straps are still a problem, buy vet wrap (the bandages that come in all colors). Vet wrap will not come off unless your dog is an aggressive chewer. My boy has degenerative Myelopathy causing hindend instability and poor traction. He can now run and walk without joint distress. It's just like his DM has regressed considerably. I highly recommend this innovative application. Andy has a spring in his step again. The boots have done exactly what I hoped for. Now I just want to know if he can use them when swimming.

Would you recommend this product?.: No
velcro is not useful in critical applications like securing the boots on paws. The securing strap can be pulled open by the dog. Running through heavy brush in hunting situations will snag and open the strap in less than ten minutes. Adding a snap buckle to the strap is a requirement in this situation. I can sew on the buckles myself, but would prefer the design to be improved as per Tom's review of 12/19/2009.

I correctly sized these boots but they will not stay on my dog's feet, especially on the back ones. The liners make things even worse, despite what was said about the liners making things better. First off I was surprised that my pup need such a small size but the sizing was correct for the most part but my dog really needed one size smaller for his back paws. No sweat I just took a needle and thread and took the back ones in very slightly and will probably just get one size smaller for the rear later. As I red in other reviews I bought the socks so they would stay on better and they seem to stay on for about 6 miles of a 10 mile hike and then one came off but I expected them to need to be readjusted after several Creek crossings so check tham a couple of times a day and rinse them out after they get full of creek sand. Not sure why people in other reviews had so much trouble keeping them on, maybe bought to big of a size? These boots just like every product I have gotten from Ruffwear are excellent quality and would recomend them to others, but I wish I would have bought the red color and the one time I did have one come off I would imagine it would have been a little easier to find it.

The soles on these shoes are the best I have found for our lab who runs her paws raw jumping in the pool off the hard patio surface all day. Unfortunately they do not stay on well and they hit right at the point of the area the dew claw was at and it aggervates this area after a while. The shoes also turn around and if you do not catch this the shoes tear up on the top portion. I have alread been through one set because of this but the sole of the shoes are still in tact. They need to have a higher strap/ multiple straps and a more durable top.

There are some thing I really like about this boot. The sole is first rate. Unfortunately these boots will not stay on for a active hunting dog like a Brittany. Yes, they where properly sized. They will probably work ok for walking on a leash but not in a hunting or working dog situation. I converted my pair to high tops with cordura uppers and three velcro cinch straps and they worked much better. I rate these boots with one star but the website won't allow anything less than a 2 star rating. I would not re-purchase these unless a high top model becomes available.

My Border Collie Jet is a complete freak during bike rides and during hikes. Completely shreds his paws flying down rough terrain and accelarating on pavement. I tried lots of things but these Grip-Trex boots were the best! The only issue I am having is the way they fit...on the first outing on a hike he lost 2 pairs, in the first 10 minutes. Had to buy another set. Now i use them for biking but as soon as Jet goes from a fast trot to a accelerate in to a run a bootie goes flying. I can go back and get it, but then it so inconvenient for conditioning.

We have been biking our 8 month old poodle to get him to use his energy. He was getting abrasions on his paws from the asphalt, so the boots really got us over the hump. I think we will continue to use them this summer if the pavement is still hot. We did have one issue with a boot being cinched to tight and rubbing a spot on the side of his paw. Baby sox or the liners might be a good idea.

We do a lot of walking in wooded areas frequented by kids who like to break bottles on the trails. After Baron suffered a laceration on one of his paws, putting him out of action for a couple weeks, we decided to get these. After a 15 minute walk around the block, Baron could not have cared less that he had these on his feet. The day after the acclimation I took him on an 18-mile hike on the Wapack Trail and the boots were never an issue. Not once did they fall off and they needed no adjusting. Through mud and streams, the boots stayed on. Even off-leash sprints through the brush couldn't shake them from his feet! For the price of a vet visit, you'll never have to go to the Dr for a paw injury again.

I very carefully measured my dog's foot and purchased the right size. They were fine walking around the neighborhood but on a backpacking trip in the Canyonlands they kept falling off, as soon as they got wet, or even just after a bit of wear. I tried them with the liners and without, really cinched them on, but he still kept kicking them off. It was really frustrating as I felt like I was staring at his feet more than anything else to make sure I didn't lose one. I ended up giving up on them after 2 days and just carried them. Not fun. I will try putting athletic tape around them next time but I am not overly impressed.

We had to get surgery for our Newfie, in the midst of all this she was slipping around on our hardwood floors and all her legs would go out from underneath her. Really scary and sad! So we bought these boots for her to wear around the house, they do tend to turn upside down on her but I think with a little learning on my part I can get them to stay on right if I tighten them. The grip is great she will not be slipping in these!

My dog is a year around outdoor dog. Recently it has been recovering from a gunshot wound ( yes some %*###* shot my dog); and has come indoors for 8 weeks. We have newly installed hardwood floors and appears to be the perfect protection for the floors as well as keeps her from slipping while in her recovery time. When she recovers; we will put them to a real outdoors test!

Peanut is a super active dog. We take him on every outdoor adventure we go on and he loves it. The only thing we didnt enjoy was the torn up paw pads after our adventures with Peanut. We bought him these boots and no more paw injuries! He has around 200 miles on them and they are still going strong. They even wash great and look like new. Peanut wears them with comfort too, no high stepping or paw shaking. These boots actually stay on too (unless we step on them and give him a flat tire).

We have tried a lot of boots before. My dog is husky and very active, he is born to run, moreover we often participate in the Dogs Shows and his legs should be clean and neet. As I said husky is very active and because of this feature we always had a problem how to make boots to be fixed and not to be lost every minute we walked. Now we have a great solution, we bought these wonderful Bark'n Boots™ Grip Trex™. Thank to this geniouse person or a team which had created this inique product and make it available. Do not hesitate the boots really worth each cent it cost.

Great
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
These are the best doggie boots out there for active dogs playing in the rocks and trails of Colorado. The soles offer great traction and the mesh top still lets thier feet breathe. Climbing 14ers we have seen other dogs pads cut to shreds. I would not take our dogs up a summit without them. Big thing to remember with these boots is that you need to periodically check them to make sure they are on snug and remove any gravel or dirt that might have snuck in. Just like you should be doing with your own boots on a bigger hike. Wish there was a second velcro strap that went above the dew pads to add extra security and help keep the boots from slipping when dogs start to get into more vertical terrain.

keep salt and snow out of his paws
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
Once Duke got used to the boots, he didn't seem to mind them at all. After I remembered to re-adjust them they stayed on perfectly, and Duke really seemed to appreciate the fact that his paws weren't iced over on our night hikes. He isn't necessarily a fan of them if we're just walking through the neighborhood though. but, they keep him from limping due to snowmelt salt getting in between his pads so...all is well.

I was surprised that these boots stayed on my dogs paws the first time we used them. We went for a 1 hour walk on the city streets and she thought she was the coolest dog ever, prancing with her head held high. But the second time we used them one boot fell off a few times. I use these to protect my dogs paws from NYC street salt. I don't know if they would stay on in a lot of snow but for what I need them for they seem to work. They are much better then I expected and so darn cute in a sporty way (and I am not at all into the cutesy dog look).

I want to like them, but I'm not sure.
Would you recommend this product?.: No
I really want to like these boots, but I can't make up my mind. I purchased them for my 1 yr-old mixed breed after she was recovering from a paw injury that she incurred when she stepped on a piece of glass in the road. I was a little confused at the recommendation to get the grip trex socks with the boots. If they boots cause rubbing without the socks, why wouldn't they be sewn into the shoes? I didn't feel like paying another $10 for socks, so I went to a baby store and bought 6mo baby socks that were seamless and $2 and used those instead. With or without the socks, I had problems with keeping the boots on my very active puppy. I'm not sure how these would ever stay on on the trail. I think it is due to the low profile of the boot and I wonder if the kind that come up higher like a sock would stay on better. Once I tightened them up substantially, they stayed on better, but my dog seemed uncomfortable. Maybe they were cutting off her circulation at that point? The other problem is that my dog has dew claws on all four paws, and these boots are definitely the wrong height for dogs with dew claws. I will probably try to use vet wrap to tape her dew claws down to see if that helps. That said, the boots seem very durable, and I am a bit baffled by people who say they fell apart. The soles feel durable and, when they did stay on my pup, they allowed her to grip and turn reasonable well in wet grass, though she did wipe out about a quarter of the time. I am going to give them a few more chances, but I will probably return them if they don't stay on reliably. I bought two pairs, one small, one extra small, and use the larger ones on the front paws and the smaller on the back. My other dog has the same size feet, so if we ever get around to trying them on her, we will do the same thing. I was surprised at the sizing. My dogs are 50+ lbs, and they've never worn "small" anything.

This is the FOURTH pair of boots I've been through. Misha would either not tolerate previous boots, wear through them in a day or both. These are the first that he's been comfortable in and easy to get on. He has big feet and little ankles, so this boot which does not cover the ankle, fits perfectly. I am so happy to have found these as the salt burns his feet in the winter.

Best dog boots out there
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
Edwin (our Pug) needed a great set of dog boots for the Chicago winters. His paws are extra sensitive to salt and these boots (with the liners) are the solution. These are better than any other canine boot because they're made like an actual shoe with a durable sole. I would rate the boots five stars except the fastener should be slightly higher so the front dew claws don't get squeezed too tightly. Other than that, these boots are great for the winters as well as nature walks.

Choose size carefully
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
These boots are certainly well-made and appear that they would remain secure on the right paws. However, I found, as did others on this site, that the boots can run too short in length. According to the size chart, my Brittany needed an XXS. When they arrived, however, the boots did not reach the narrow part of the ankle where they needed to be secured. When I called, customer service told me the relative lengths (XXS is 3 in., XS is 3-1/2, and S is 4 in. long). I would have needed to go up 2 sizes to get the proper lenght, which would have been too wide and likely cause the boot to rotate around the foot. Had to return them, but found a good pair of boots at Granite Gear.

The design of these boots are profoundly flawed. the sole and the foxing need to meet at an angle. The shape of the shoe is completely incongruent with the shap of a dogs paw joint. They are very stiff, there is no lining, and they fly off at the first sign of a gallop. Terrible terrible shoes.

However, on one of our walks the velcro got packed with snow and one bootie kept falling off. We haven't had the same problem since. I guess I didn't get the strap tight enough.

These boots have worked great so far on my dog! We are outside often, whether snow/ice/salt, abrasive sandstone, or hidden cactus on the trails, these boots have done a great job keeping our dog's paws safe. The only thing that would make them better would be a better way to keep them on..our girl has narrow legs and paws and we have trouble keeping the rear ones on sometimes, especially if she's running. Besides that, they're great! The vibram soles are a definite plus on some of the trails we've explored!

I work in Keeshond (dog) rescue and usually end up with the old, infirm, unadoptable dogs. One of my current 5 is 14 and due to abuse, neglect and malnutrishment in the past has little muscle in his hips. We have ceramic tile and wood floors throughout our house which he had trouble getting traction on to walk and get up. He now wears booties with vibram soles. They have given him a new lease on life. He has gone from sleeping most of the day to participating in pack activities and being up and mobile during the day. We always know he's coming by the clomp of his boots, and he looks pretty cute too. I have another 12 year old I have just purchased booties for. Same problem after being seized in a drug raid and locked in a bathroom without food or water for 11 days. He has a happy life now, and prolonged mobility thanks to your product.

I bought the boots to keep the snow and ice out of my dogs paws. The boots work great but are easliy lost in the snow. They do not secure tight enough to his leg to keep them in place. We had to use the XXS and tighten them to the extreme, however, it still did not stay on with confidence. When not in the snow or mud, the boot seem to work great.

Although I haven't been on any hikes yet with the shoes, I did try them on my lab Bailey and they fit great. I will be purchasing the socks soon as I think they will help with comfort and fit. Bailey and I went on a day long hike up to the Continental Divide in Colorado and she cut her paw on a sharp rock. I ended up having to carry her about five miles because she was in so much pain. It wasn't easy as she weighs 75 pounds. When she gets used to them I think they will be well appreciated when her paws are in perfect shape at the end of the day.

On our first walk, he figured out how to kick them off his back feet, and tried to run in the bushes, and pull them off with his teeth. So the trick was to get him used to wearing them. So took him for a bike run (have a special leash, that is set up for my bike) they worked perfect! No sore paws the next day. Also have used them in the snow/cold ... on a trip to Bend, OR. got caught in a major snow storm and cold spell ... put on his liners and boots (used a little duct tape, to insure they would stay on, and keep the snow out of the boots) and he had a ball playing in snow for hours (he also has a snow suit, not that he spoiled or anything) ... Overall it is a good product, it just took some getting used to, and some innovation.

I got these for my dog for the hot summers in Phoenix. The first time she wore them, she chased a duck into a pond and lost one of them (think it got stuck in the mud). Since we got her replacements, she hasn't lost a single one. They have saved her paws when going on long rocky hikes and on the hot pavement in town. People think she looks ridiculous, but we will never have to deal with ripped or burned pads ever again! *We've found the boots work best with the liners.

These are the first pair of dog boots I have ever purchased. I got them because my friend suggested them, she also has a pair for her Golden. My husband and I have been very happy with the dog boots. At first they rotated upside down with wear, but I think the boots just needed breaking in-like human shoes. Our Golden was getting "ice cubes" between his toes on our walks and they were very painful for him. With the boots he is like a different dog, he is much more adventurous in his play. The boots also protect against the salt, sand and chemicals on the sidewalks. We get compliments daily when we walk him, on how cute the boots are. He is the envy of the dog park.

My husband and I were excited to get these for our dog. We are outside a lot and thought these would be wonderful for snow and hiking through the woods. They are a little difficult to get on at first but after a couple of times you get used to them. Just make sure you velcro them tight enough or they will slip off. We also bought the socks they make to wear with the boots. We figured it would give a little more comfort rather than having the boot material on his paws. Our dog loves them too... He will run around like crazy in the snow with them on.

We've had our boots for about a year and so far, great for protection in the Minnesota winters. His feet are dry and warm when we take the boots off. He used to get excited to put them on, but recently we've noticed he runs away when we try to put them on. Shoes are hurting his feet. Heavy nails have worn through the toe stitching (on one of the boots) in spite of keeping nails short and neat. Be mindful when sizing for large dogs. His feet aren't very wide, but long due to heavier nails and we thought we allowed for it. Might try a larger size or different brand altogether, but not sure yet. Worried that the next size will be too wide and tops will bundle up around his skinny ankles. We've never had trouble with the straps not staying tight and boots falling off....even when distance running with my husband. Don't be afraid to tighten down the straps!

Very disappointed in these boots. No matter what I do they fly right off. Granite Gear makes a dog boot that articulates higher up the leg and therfore remains on as the cinch strap is up the ankle rather then below the "heel". I needed a XL boot to fit around my dogs foot, but the ankle strap did not tighten enough for his ankles. The shoe kept moving and the grip rotated to the top of the foot. The velcro also does not stick when it's cold and the rubber gets slick like ice. The purpose of getting this shoe was so his feet wouldn't get cold while cross country skiing, but instead the feet turned into iceles or the shoes fell off.

My dog has very sensitive feet. Over the past 3 years we have tried many, many types of dog boots. These are the best we have found. In cold, snowy or icy weather, my dog will not spend more than 5 minutes outside, UNLESS he has on these boots and then I am the one that needs to drag him home. He runs and plays at the dog park with them and has not lost a boot yet. However, it is very important to use the socks which will help keep the boots in place and reduce pressure on the dew claws. Overall, we couldn't make it through the winter without these boots!

I've tried to use these on Tank and he doesn't like them. So far I can't really rate them. When we did try them out, he figured out how to throw them off within the first 1/3 of a mile.

I use these on my dog for hunting while in tough rock country and or during hunting in cactus country. These are great boots in both of these areas with the Grip Trex sole. They do losen a little but you just need to check them every so often and retighten if necessary.

We put these on our dog in the house to keep her from slipping on slick floors. I'm going to take them and her back to the store we bought them from and see if they can help. I know snow sled dogs use these but they are kept on with gaffer tap. Not good for us.

I have a service dog, and the southern pavement gets very hot on her paws. These boots have protected her feet well and makes her perform her job better. However, they don't stay on her feet as good when going over uneven trails and terrain. They'll flip around and slide off.

We've had consistent problems losing boots in either light or crusted snow. We've tried socks, but lose a boot within 10 minutes, even taking great care to securely fasten the straps. Not good for snow --- can't comment on normal trail-running in dry conditions. I wish the booties had significantly higher-tops with possibly two attach straps per bootie -- one at the wrist, and one much higher up on the forearm.

Best Product I've Found!
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
I LOVE these boots, I have tried many different kinds of boots for my boxer-who is extremely active- and all of them just haven't lasted more then a day or two. We do a ton of hiking, camping, and she goes on trail rides with me and the horses, and we encounter roads, rocks, streams, thorn bushes, mud and more and these boots do an amazing job protecting her feet from all of the elements. I bought a pair of baby socks to put on her before the boots, and she's good to go!

Great Traction
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
These boots have the best traction of any I have seen. The biggest challenge is keeping the boots on my dogs feet. He loves to kick them off when running. A great product for a dog that doesn't mind shoes.

My 14 year old lab has endured a number of painful memories amidst our countless adventures during his lifetime (he is now retired and prefers the indoors). Among them involved bleeding paws/pads due to rough terrain. He has tried on many different types of dog shoes but they either never held up or they simply fell off. Unfortunately, I didn't know about Ruffwear back then. Today, I routinely run both on and off road with my 15 month old yellow lab and he never leaves home without his Ruffwear GripTrex (he started wearing them when he was 9 weeks old). We went on a 10 mile hike/run in Marin Headlands yesterday and not only did the Griptrex stayed on the entire time and protected his paws from the sharp and loose rocks, I didn't have to worry about him stepping on some horse poop while out on our adventures. When we got back to the truck, I simply took his shoes off and he jumped inside the truck with clean paws. What more can a dog and his owner ask for? We haven't tested the Griptrex in snow but we plan to do so this winter.

very good

This is a very good product. We have extreme winters here often times reaching -40 and lots of snow. My Pit has problems with slicing his pads on the ice and the shoes work great. But, I also had the problem with the shoes aggrevating his dew claw. I solved this buying inexpensive baby socks that hold his dew claw close to his leg and reduce friction of the boot.

We purchased our first set when our Lab sliced up her paw . She did walk a bit funny at first but once she was accustomed to them, nothing could stop her. Easy to use. My only complaint is that they don't always stay on. Thankfully singles are now sold for lost boots.
