Great

I bought a set of these for my Samoyed last year. They work great when we go out for our walks. The one problem I have is that when it has snowed and we go for a walk or he runs around the boots some times turns and come off. The boots do fit him great and I would only recommend them if you don't have a very active dog. /////Yes

Excellent product & easy to use!

I bought XL boots for my Mastiff last summer. I wanted to take her swimming in our above ground pool, but was nervous that her long legs would reach the bottom and tear the liner. The boots are easy to put on, and she got used to them after roughly 5 minutes. She is able to swim with ease, and as an extra bonus has protection from the hot deck when she gets out. The materials and construction are much nicer than the competitors. The rubber gives her great traction, but doesn't leave marks on the floors inside of the home. /////Yes

Great Quality

The only problem is that they are too short. When my dog runs they will sometimes come off. If I make them too tight then his dew claws dig into him and make a sore. It would be great if these came in a "high top" version. I love them though because his feet are big and his pads are big and deep. His feet get a little tender if we hike really rocky ground./////Yes

Happy feet = Happy dog

We purchased our first set when our Lab sliced up her paw . She did walk a bit funny at first but once she was accustomed to them, nothing could stop her. Easy to use. My only complaint is that they don't always stay on. Thankfully singles are now sold for lost boots./////Yes

This is a very good product. We have extreme winters here often times reaching -40 and lots of snow. My Pit has problems with slicing his pads on the ice and the shoes work great. But, I also had the problem with the shoes aggrevating his dew claw. I solved this buying inexpensive baby socks that hold his dew claw close to his leg and reduce friction of the boot./////Yes

Protects paws/pads and keeps them clean

My 14 year old lab has endured a number of painful memories amidst our countless adventures during his lifetime (he is now retired and prefers the indoors). Among them involved bleeding paws/pads due to rough terrain. He has tried on many different types of dog shoes but they either never held up or they simply fell off. Unfortunately, I didn't know about Ruffwear back then. Today, I routinely run both on and off road with my 15 month old yellow lab and he never leaves home without his Ruffwear GripTrex (he started wearing them when he was 9 weeks old). We went on a 10 mile hike/run in Marin Headlands yesterday and not only did the Griptrex stayed on the entire time and protected his paws from the sharp and loose rocks, I didn't have to worry about him stepping on some horse poop while out on our adventures. When we got back to the truck, I simply took his shoes off and he jumped inside the truck with clean paws. What more can a dog and his owner ask for? We haven't tested the Griptrex in snow but we plan to do so this winter./////Yes

Best Product I've Found!

I LOVE these boots, I have tried many different kinds of boots for my boxer-who is extremely active- and all of them just haven't lasted more then a day or two. We do a ton of hiking, camping, and she goes on trail rides with me and the horses, and we encounter roads, rocks, streams, thorn bushes, mud and more and these boots do an amazing job protecting her feet from all of the elements. I bought a pair of baby socks to put on her before the boots, and she's good to go!/////Yes

Dissappointed - useless in the snow

My guys doesn't need paw protection on earthen trails like he does for hiking/skiing in the snow so my only complaint relates to using Ruff Wear boots on active dogs in the snow. Last year we lost one boot while snowshoeing; it came off when he was walking in deeper snow. I had to finished off last winter (2008/2009) with a borrowed pair of booties - a major competitor of Ruff Wear booties. I took my guy backcountry skiing, but I duct taped the base of the borrowed boot to help keep them on (not to his fur of course). The leading competitor's dog boots at least stayed on for the two day ski trip - thanks in part to the duct tape, the high-top boot design and lack of resistance in the snow (persumably because they are leather and not vibram they slip out from crusty snow without pulling off the boot). Of course the leather eventually froze solid and the boots had to be thawed and dried out. Still, for this winter season (2009/2010) I perservered and replaced the missing Ruff Wear bootie and gave it another go this year. I even bought the socks because I read somewhere that they help keep the boots on - lies. I duct taped the base of the boot again to try to keep them on and prevent snow from entering through the top. Well, as you can guess the stupid boots ripped off again while snowshoing. This time it saved the boot because I warned my friend to look for rogue dog boots. My suggestion to buyers based on my snowy experiences: if your dog is active in the snow and you get crusty layers of snow in your area, then don't buy these. Find high-top booties - even cheap ones are better than these. Plus if you lose them it's no big deal.My suggestion to Ruff Wear: actually test your products in real-life situations. Design a pair of dog boots specifically for the snow. They must come up higher on the paw, well above the dew claw, so that they stay on the paw and so that they don't fill with snow. They must have a secure closure that will not fray like the velcro strap. They must have reduced resistance when travelling in snow pack otherwise they just rip off when the dog runs in the snow. Lasty, I acutally do like the vibram material because it won't get wet and freeze; however, you need to solve the resistance problem. My solution: my Mutt will get some Luk this season because I might buy him a different pair of booties./////No

Love them!

After trying 3-4 different types of booties, these have worked the best for our Aussie. He's highly active and LOVES bounding in the deep snow. Started with the booties last year when we first got him as our winter was bitterly cold and he still wanted to play outside. Tried some fleece booties and they ice up due to his hot little pads. They were also very slippery on hard packed snow. It was a chore to take him on walks or play and keep him from trying to rip them off of his feet. I also had to try the coban to help keep them on. Tried some leather soled booties with more padding and an elastic "sock" that came up higher on the leg. These didn't stay on for beans. Tried nylon booties (similar in make to the fleece ones) and had problems with the booties icing up from the heat of the dog's pads. They also wouldn't stay on. Then tried the ones with the "skins" on the soles, and came up higher on the leg. These stayed on for all of 1 minute once the boy got out the door. This summer I bought these Ruffwear booties. Tried them with the first snow and once he got used to the hard sole, he LOVES them! I can now play fetch with him in the snow and he doesn't stop to try and tear them off his feet (couldn't do that with any other type). I can also take him on walks with them without him even skipping a beat. We've had the deep snow with the icky crusty layer on the top this season. He loves to punch through it to go exploring and we haven't lost a bootie yet. I just have to make sure to tighten the velcro strap tight enough. I've been super pleased with these booties so far this winter and am looking to buy another pair for our other new Aussie. They both are high energy and highly active dogs. We walk, run, ski, snowshoe and snowmachine with them. With the booties, the kids can play in the snow and the cold with us without freezing their pads or collecting the ice balls between them. The vibram sole takes a little bit for the kids to get used to. It's great entertainment the first time you put them on. But for us, when the snow gets hard-packed & icy, these give the kids more traction than any other bootie I've found. Even when I got the ones with the skins on the sole to stay on their feet, the kids slipped all over the place.I would recommend these to anyone with highly active dogs!/////Yes

We've had consistent problems losing boots in either light or crusted snow. We've tried socks, but lose a boot within 10 minutes, even taking great care to securely fasten the straps. Not good for snow --- can't comment on normal trail-running in dry conditions. I wish the booties had significantly higher-tops with possibly two attach straps per bootie -- one at the wrist, and one much higher up on the forearm./////No

I originally bought the boots because where we camp stupid people leave a bunch of broken glass around. When my boy was about 5mnths old he shreaded his pad. Great Product

My dog has very sensitive feet. Over the past 3 years we have tried many, many types of dog boots. These are the best we have found. In cold, snowy or icy weather, my dog will not spend more than 5 minutes outside, UNLESS he has on these boots and then I am the one that needs to drag him home. He runs and plays at the dog park with them and has not lost a boot yet. However, it is very important to use the socks which will help keep the boots in place and reduce pressure on the dew claws. I got them so my dog would not slide and fall on tile and hardwood floors, as she is having problems in her hips. Our problem is her foot is long and narrow, so they do not stay on. She is an older dog, her wrists droop and she slides out of them. I measured as requested on web site, width is fine, length is the problem. They should come up higher on the leg so they don't slide off. It is a good boot, it just does not fit my old girl's feet properly. Saw a dog wearing them at Vet's office and they worked o.k. for him./////?

I also ordered the liners, these too were very well constructed & fit great, too bad the boots didn't work out. I do suggest ordering the liners if you want the boots. I'm giving the boots a 2 star rating only because I feel they are not made for tiny paws. BTW, the customer service is GREAT! Good

We've had our boots for about a year and so far, great for protection in the Minnesota winters. His feet are dry and warm when we take the boots off. He used to get excited to put them on, but recently we've noticed he runs away when we try to put them on. Shoes are hurting his feet. Heavy nails have worn through the toe stitching (on one of the boots) in spite of keeping nails short and neat. Be mindful when sizing for large dogs. His feet aren't very wide, but long due to heavier nails and we thought we allowed for it. Might try a larger size or different brand altogether, but not sure yet. Worried that the next size will be too wide and tops will bundle up around his skinny ankles. We've never had trouble with the straps not staying tight and boots falling off....even when distance running with my husband. My husband and I were excited to get these for our dog. We are outside a lot and thought these would be wonderful for snow and hiking through the woods. They are a little difficult to get on at first but after a couple of times you get used to them. Just make sure you velcro them tight enough or they will slip off. Our Golden was getting "ice cubes" between his toes on our walks and they were very painful for him. With the boots he is like a different dog, he is much more adventurous in his play. Great

I am thankful to have had these boots with me. When my dog punctured his foot and we had to take him to the vet, I was thankful to have a solid boot for him to wear. I would recommend getting the socks also to help out. Thank you also for making it possible to buy a one boot replacement in case of chewing/////yes

Best boot on the market

Houndy has big feet, skinny ankles, the only problem is snow packing down into the boot in the winter but we wouldn't be hunting this late in the season without good dog boots. /////yes

Well constructed! Also bought the liners.

On our first walk, he figured out how to kick them off his back feet, and tried to run in the bushes, and pull them off with his teeth. So the trick was to get him used to wearing them. So took him for a bike run (have a special leash, that is set up for my bike) they worked perfect! No sore paws the next day. Also have used them in the snow/cold ... on a trip to Bend, OR. got caught in a major snow storm and cold spell ... put on his liners and boots (used a little duct tape, to insure they would stay on, and keep the snow out of the boots) and he had a ball playing in snow for hours (he also has a snow suit, not that he spoiled or anything) ... Overall it is a good product, it just took some getting used to, and some innovation./////yes

Awesome!

These are the best boots! My lab wears them on our long hikes, in rain, snow, whatever the weather brings they handle. As a typical lab, he loves to swim and these boots don't interrupt him at all! Fit is perfect. Strap works very well if used properly. Location of the strap is key as you can pull it tight and not hurt the dog or do any damage - whereas a higher strap could not be pulled as tight as hurting the dog when then be an option.Love these boots!/////yes

Good

When we first put the boots on we thought that we wouldn't be able to use them very often because our dog seemed to hate them. He now loves his boots and procceeds to do all of his normal activities with them on (including trying to jump on the bed).My only complaint is that it seems that the boots tend to rotate on his feet, but I think the socks would fix that./////yes

Fantastic

Our labrador George hasn't been able to walk due to suffering form Lymphoma, a terminal condition. At this stage it is attacking his skin, mainly his Paws making it too painfull to walk. He was geeting so depressed that he couldn't go to his favourite park, explore 'sniff hill' or blow off any energy. These boots have saved him, well, while he is well enough to walk. The quality is great, and great fun for us to watch him prance around. If anyone wants to see his first walk in the boots go to Youtube and search 'George's first walk for weeks or go to this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK5hFDely1c/////yes

Great! I just need liners!

I love your product, amazing. I wished you would have put a big thing next to it to warn me to buy a think sock with it because it wears the fur off her feet. But other than that its amazing, I'm so happy your have created such a helpful tool. She's a bit lame in one foot and that supports her to walk. Thanks./////yes

Good, need re-enforced toe

they are the best booties that we have found for our dog that was diagnosedwith Degenerative Mylopethy (DM), a neurological disease. this affects theback legs which they start to drag, nails bleed and at some point the dogloses feeling in one or both legs. their balance also gets a bit unsteadyand start to slip on wood or tile surfaces. hence, the dog wheelchair comesin when they can no longer walk. BUT, maybe you can design some sort of "medical" booty. only reason is:because of the dragging of the feet, the booties do wear out at the toe veryfast. i have had to get them reinforced by our shoemaker which works outfine. the grip on the bottom of the bootie is great so my dog does not slip on thewood or tile surfaces and can still play around without his legs splayingand him falling on his backside. many people have stopped me in the street (i live in manhattan) asking whattype of booties my dog is wearing and how good they are. tell them allpositive things about Ruffwear. one woman told me her great dane has"wobbles" disease which seems a bit worse than DM. it is very similareffects on the dogs body like DM. so, all in all, yes - the booties are great. and our dog has been using themeveryday for a few months now and it has helped a great deal. i do hope that you can get your team together and work on something evensturdier for the above diseases that affect our pooches feet! /////yes

Great quality

Although I haven't been on any hikes yet with the shoes, I did try them on my lab Bailey and they fit great. I will be purchasing the socks soon as I think they will help with comfort and fit. Bailey and I went on a day long hike up to the Continental Divide in Colorado and she cut her paw on a sharp rock. I ended up having to carry her about five miles because she was in so much pain. It wasn't easy as she weighs 75 pounds. When she gets used to them I think they will be well appreciated when her paws are in perfect shape at the end of the day. /////yes

The Best

Love Love Love these boots!! I have tried store bought boots & they only lasted a week!! My dog is a service dog & goes with me everywhere. My last pair of Bark N Boots lasted 2 yrs. My dog goes running with my hubby & he has had no problem with them falling off or slipping around. The boots keep the dogs feet clean, dry, & no cuts on the pads. Also they protect the dogs pads from the salt & sand. /////yes

great

We got these boots for our weimeraner who runs with us on our mountian bikes. She goes 3-4 days a week and runs up to 30miles at a time. Her pads are pretty tough with the miles and she mostly doesn't need the boots on our mostly dirt trails, but on long sections of gravel or very rocky terrain, fast miles tend to tear up her pads. I carry these boots with me and put them on just for these sections. Overall, they work well. Our Weim has long narrow feet, so I had to get a size bigger than the size chart (measured in width) would indicate. When she runs quickly in the boots for long distances, they tend to rub the top of her knuckles raw, so the boot liners seem wise if your dog has short hair on thier feet and is going to run long distances in them. They fall off every once in a while, but rare. I just pay attention and go find it. /////yes

Very good!

I Love these boots. These are the easiest boots ever to put on your dog. They stay on and look very nice. My only wish is that you made a waterproof version of these for those of us in snowy climates. The slush and snow gets into the mesh part of the boot an freezes my dogs paws. The boots are wonderful for the summer and cold days when there isn't any snow or slush./////yes

Great Quality but needs work

I bought the boots to keep the snow and ice out of my dogs paws. The boots work great but are easliy lost in the snow. They do not secure tight enough to his leg to keep them in place. We had to use the XXS and tighten them to the extreme, however, it still did not stay on with confidence. When not in the snow or mud, the boot seem to work great./////yes

Excellent!

I picked up a set of these for my Bouvier, Hussi, mainly because her pads would get very sore after we'd been outside for hours playing in the snow. She forgets she's wearing them and really turns into a puppy when she's running around and rollin' in the snow! Also looking forward to using them for our geocaching and hiking trail exploits. Thx much!/////yes

FANTASTIC!!!

I bought our first pair for our younger GSD, and the size was too big. Her paws are very small, but thankfully it fit our other GSD. We just bought the smalls for our young GSD and they fit perfect now!!!! She loves them! Both of our "girls" love their boots, and we are excited to bring them hiking this summer.Last summer our younger GSD cut her paws on our rocky terrain, and my husband had to make a boot for her out of the bandage wrap that sticks to itsself. After we found these at our local REI, we decided we needed them. We found them on sale for xmas this last year! AWESOME BOOT!!! We are thinking of getting the socks if our "baby socks" don't work on them. GREAT JOB! Only thing is they need to be a bit longer, as they don't cover my younger GSDs dew claws./////yes
