I love these shoes for my puppy partner.
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
I got a set of these shoes when I got my Seeing Eye dog, and I lost one along the way since then. I was so thrilled to find I could purchase a replacement for the one I lost and wouldn't have to buy a whole new set. They are absolutely amazing to keep his paws protected as we travel all around the blistering heat of South Florida. It makes it possible for him to comfortably join us when my wife and I take trips to disney and spend over 10 hours walking through the parks. I swear that I could probably make some good money selling these shoes everywhere i go because whenever he's wearing them I constantly get people remarking on them and being amazed that my dog is wearing shoes. I'm about to move up to New York and I know that these shoes will be an essential piece of his working outfit when Winter comes around and we have to contend with snow and salt on the roads. I can't wait to hear all the comments from amazed onlookers as we go stepping out with his boots up North.

excellent
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
Bubba has spinal degeneration which causes him to drag his right rear foot. That in turn wore his nails down and they bled. I tried all sorts of boots and none of them worked. I resorted to getting the smallest toddler socks I could find and taping them on his foot. The socks didn't last a day. I found Ruffwear online and made a call. Their customer service is excellent and steered me in the direction of Grip Tex plus the boot liners. Bubba was used to wearing things on his foot so it was no problem putting the socks or boot on (definitely get the socks). He took to it right away and I even think that the added weight of the boot reminds him to pick up his foot cause he doesn't drag it while wearing the boot. He hasn't worn it long so I am not sure how it will hold up. I will be getting another one if this one wears out. Thank you for an excellent product. BUbba thanks you too. He can rough house with the other dogs now. He's a happy camper.

great
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
Our dog Logan had to have a hind leg amputated, and I purchased a single grip trex boot as he was having problems in our home with all wooden floors. The boot gives him the added traction he needs in the house to get around more easily, as well as protects his remaining hind foot outside as he is very active, though stumbles and drags it from time to time. I recommend this purchase for anyone with animals with similar problems.

Wonderful!
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
Roxy had to have her toes on her right front paw amputated in November of 2012. The hospital gave us our first boot. We ordered another one for her and when we finally got the size right, it worked like a dream. The boot flexes where her toes would normally be and she can walk and run without slipping because of the little lugs on the sole. She wears the boot with her little liners at all times when she is outside and switches to a skyliner boot when she is inside. We have been extremely happy with her boot and plan to order more.

Good Quality
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
These boots have worked very well for us. My Border mix goes hiking and trail running with us quite often, but some of the rougher parts of the trails can be hard on her feet. I bought these boots last year after coming home from Grandfather Mountain with a very bloody-footed dog and have been extremely pleased with my purchase. They stick on her feet through rough terrain, climbing and scrambling, stream crossing/slight swimming, just flat out running, sharp, high speed turns, and all of these things combined into one day! I did buy the Boot liners which I believe help the fit quite a lot. Although a boot will never equal the traction and climbing ability she can achieve barefoot with the use of her claws, and although we have temporarily lost a boot or two several times in snowy hikes in the mountains, I would say that these boots are without question the best quality dog boots on the market...and to top it all off, they just look awesome! I'm about to buy a set for my lab :)

I love this product!! I have a service dog for my diabetes and she needed boots to protect her feet from the everyday stuff she faces on a daily basis. These boots are great and they fit wonderfully. The only thing i dont like is the velcro. I have to tighten the velcor to keep the boots securely on her feet n=and have had the boots for 3 weeks and the velcro is staarting to wear a little thin on the boots. Other than that these boots are amazing.

Bailey had a wounded paw and has been bandaged for quite some time. The Grip Trex boot fits over his bandage and a small plastic bag, allowing us to happily trudge through the snow and ice of Upstate NY. The velcro strap is easily adjustable, and the boot never falls off. This has been a lifesaver while he heals.

terrific

Major is steadily losing the use of one of his front legs, causing him to drag his paw as he walks. This boot not only protects his paw from abrasion but also gives him much-needed traction. It fits well, is easy to put on, and doesn't bother him a bit. Don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found these.

Great for granite hiking
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
We hike a bunch in the Sierras in the summer. Those granite slabs tear up a dog's pads. He's much happier with his boots on and can remain relatively agile in rough terrain.
The only suggestion I'd make is to add some kind of elasticized cuff at the top to help keep sand and debris out. Soft spots in the trail can fill and rub around his ankles. Then he gets hot spots. We've taken to putting some Vet Wrap around his ankles which helps quite a bit but is a pain when taking the boots on and off for swimming breaks.

Well made
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
These are great! I'm a dog walker & use them on both my dog as well as a client's dog, who both have very sensitive paw pads.
Follow the instructions & make sure to size properly. I bought the wrong size the first time & they kept falling off. And definitely get the liner socks as well. They help keep the boots on, as well as prevent irritation. Pull them up as high as possible so they are actually sticking out above the boot. Then cinch the boots up as tight as possible with the velcro straps & they should stay put.
The only complaint I have is that the velcro straps just happen to cross exactly where my Husky's dew claw is, thus causing them to dig into his skin. The other dog I walk doesn't have that issue at all though. She's an old girl, who is very shaky on her feet...until I put the boots on that is...aka her Air Jordan's. Then she happily gallops about like a puppy!

Good
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
The boot is easy to put on and seems to be of good quality. However it seems to slip around backwards very easily. We have to stop every couple of minutes to turn it back around. Wally really seems to like them, he seems a lot more adventurous and crashes through a lot more brush than he does normally while wearing them.

Durable, but easily lost
Would you recommend this product?.: No
My dog goes hiking with me regularly. Where we live, the area is filled with boulders and small streams as well as your standard dirt trails. She was getting her feet cut up constantly -- and not just her pads. So I picked up a set of these and some liners. They worked great, fit well around her paws, but was a bit loose around the "ankles." So I just velcroed them up tight and we went. This was fine for a few outings, then one day I look back and she's missing two shoes -- a front and a back. We found the front one, but never the back one. So now I'm either out the money (and these are EXPENSIVE) or I shovel up some more for the one replacement and probably lose another one again. They're well made, but maybe not for all breeds (she's a boxer mix, with those small feet and slender legs).

Bought just one after Zoe needed one of her pads stitched up from a deep cut. Helped it heal up fast. Used it later after a minor issue and didn't have it on tight enough and went in some areas with brush on the edges to find a bird. No way we were going to find it, as we had ordered black. That was the only time it fell off. Would recommend red for hunting dogs or for dogs that will be running in the woods. Will be buying 4 in red soon.

good

These boots are made really tough and i know that they would be great if Radar was wearing them only for walks. We purchased a large fiirst and then got a larger size. Unfortunately 4adarthis can take it right off, even unwraps the strap. The grip is awesome, but when running in the bush it spun around his foot no matter how tight it was. Overall the boot is great but we were trying to keep our dog from licking his foot and he was able to take it off :(

Great product!
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
These boots have worked great for me and my dog. My 60 lb Labradoodle has sensitive paws due to allergies, causing his pads to bleed when I would take him running with me. He is high energy and needs regular exercise, and he was bummed about not getting to run with me anymore. I purchased these boots and the liners about a month ago, and they have worked really well. I have no problems with them staying on his feet. I measured his paws carefully and purchased the singles, since his front and back feet are different sizes. He tolerates them well, and he can finally go running with me again! They are also really well made and have great reflective qualities for running early in the morning or late in the evening when it is still a little dark outside. I am so happy that this product exists!

My dog is missing all her toes on one paw. Unfortunately, her paw gets tender after only a mile or so of walking or hiking. I ordered these boots specifically for that foot and the distance she can go without getting a sore foot is much further. We're talking miles further. It's the best purchase I've made for her. She's had the same set for over two years and other than one boot that fell off in the snow, they've held up great and very rarely slip off. They still look brand new!

My dog is aging and my vet was noticing a deterioration on one of her front paws and was concerned with this leading up to bleeding, so she recommended Single Grip Trex Boot. I ordered (4) but decided as her front paws were seemingly worse. I put them on her front two paws. I was concerned that she would baulk at my interfering with her paws but she readily adapted and every morning before our 45 min. walk, I slip them on and she has adapted very well and learned to walk nicely on them. This is my companion dog and anything I can do to make life better I will do and you boots may well have extended her days without ant suffering
Thank you

Decided shoes were the way to go when we went hiking and his paws were raw for 2 days afterward. Did alot of research and this product had the most positive feedback. I did have a problem with they shoes turning around but found tightening the velcro fixed that problem. The other problem was the velcro strap sits on the dewclaw area which rubs the skin raw. My solution was to use prewrap (the stretchy tape girls put in there hair when they play sports) and wrap it around a few times under the dewclaw. This seems to help. These shoes have great gripping ability when jumping on rocks.

good, not excellent

Though these have been improved a bit since the last ones I bought, they are still not long enough to avoid abrading my dog's foot right at the dew claw. They need to be a little longer so that the velcro can tighten at the narrower area just above the "wrist". Older models were even worse, but these newer ones were not as improved as I had hoped. Aside form this, they are still one of the better boots available, are very sturdy, and overall I'm mostly satisfied. I have to recommend them because there is not anything much better out there.

It took me a few days to "master" the art of getting them tight enough to stay on. He would lose them if he went down hill in the woods. He had a problem with it catching on his dew claw. This sounds crazy....but I cut a mini-pad apart and covered his claw with the cottony part and it solved the problem. He's happy he can go on long walks again instead of just hanging in the yard.

purchased for dog - he is 15 yrs old and drags his back paws due to arthrities, was making his nails bleed. The boots protect his paws and he is able to walk around in comfort now-very happy with product. Recommend that you take off dog when sleeping at night to let paws breathe-machine washable too

Great
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
I think they're a great product - I purchased them for my older GSD who's having hip problems and drags her hind feet, However, the sizing didn't work for her - her back feet are narrow, but too big for the recommended size. Your initial s/h costs were, I thought, high to begin with, but I sucked them up, then had to pay to return them for refund. I found them on LL Bean and ordered a larger size there for the same price, but free shipping and free returns if the size still wasn't right. Sorry, but that's the reality of it.

Pretty good - Will continue to buy these shoes
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
I've very pleased with my purchase on these boots. They seem very well made and hold up in different terrain. I had to order two different sizes, as his front feet are larger as with most dogs. So now I have a back up set of 4. We've hiked on heavily wooded areas and ran on asphalt and gravel as well as in the field. They do slip slightly, but it helps if you buy liners that are long enough to fold over the top of the boots. Even in a full out sprint the boots have stayed on his feet. My dog loves them and they protect his feet very well.

My female Malinois had a horizontally cracked nail on her front, so the single boot did the trick to keep it secure during herding and hiking. It does tend to slip slightly below the dewclaw, but otherwise does fine.

I got a pair of these for my Aussie who was rehabbing from a stroke and was having trouble on the hardwood floor. She had no problem with the front leg but the back made her walk oddly. Luckily I didn't need them for too long. They did help while I needed them, although they did come off easily as she wasn't doing any running.

Well construction

I have the old model, but my dog lost one of his boot. So I bought a single boot to replace it. The new model are better constuction, they have reflective tape and mesh material on top will not catch the foxtail that bad. The size is slightly bigger and longer than the old model. But the boot is shallower at the front and not tall enough for his toes. They are rubbing his knuckles. All his knuckles turned red after couple minutes of running.

We got these for our dog who had his right front leg amputated a year ago in hopes that he would have better traction on our pergo floors and end the daily falls. We have purchased life vests for 3 dogs through ruffwear and were very pleased with how receptive the dogs were to these and know they have quality products. So far he is not taking to having the shoes on his feet and almost seems incapacitated with them on. He's a smart dog and really dug the life vest once he realized how helpful it was. In looking at previous reviews it looks like our dog is the only 'tard out of the bunch that didn't catch on right away. I think these will be great once we somehow convince him that they are not a torture device. Helpful tips on how to introduce your dog to the product would be my only suggestion to further improve this product. After reading the reviews I think the next direction we'll take is to put them on then get out the leash in hopes that he'll forget all about them with the thought of a walk distracting him.

The vibram boot sole provides the support my golden needed to protect a tender spot on the side of his paw from getting scraped open when walking on sidewalks or pavement. He was unable to take his daily walks until we came across this boot, which is truly a hiking boot for dogs! The boot is VERY easy to put on and the velcro closure stays in place during the walk ~ no loosening up. So glad this boot!!!!

These seems like they would be awesome but the shoe did not fit as measured by width. My dog's feet were longer than was available by width plus the height of my dog's feet required more height that was available in the shoe. I did not want the knuckles rubbing up top. So I returned the shoes. Can you make a shoe that will fit a Great Dane? Mine is allergic to grass.

Made all the Difference!
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
We recently rescued an aged Lab cross, B.W. Thud and he had a lot of issues to overcome. In addition to being seriously underweight, he also has severe arthritis in his hind end and spine. This has caused him to drag his back feet a bit. His favorite thing in the world is walks, but we had to halt them after he wore his middle hind nails down to the quick. After much research I decided to try the Grip Trex boots. They have made all the difference in the world for Thud! Not only do they protect his hind nails on walks, they also really help with traction on our wood floors and tile. Whhile we will have to replace them at some point, they've held up to all day use and nightly walks really well for several months now. Don't be surprised if your dog takes a smaller size than expected. Thud is a big boy and still wears a small. I would also recommend the socks if you're going to leave them on for extended periods. We just remove at night to allow his feet to "breath".

Awesome - A short addition
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
After scanning some of the other reviews, I wanted to add a short addition to my review. I have had zero problem with the boots coming off, turning, etc. I believe that it's vital to get the correct size and the boots do need to be tightened more than you would expect. It may also make a difference that we don't do a lot of high speed manuevers, but they stay perfectly in place all day. I don't have experience with the dew claw issue since I only use them on Thud's hinds.

Eva loves them! She is my tow dog when we go longboarding together; she can pull forever with these, and I can't wait to try them out this winter for snowboard towing! Great product, might recommend custom sizing, as Eva's feet are XL fronts but medium rear. I'll have to buy two single mediums for the best use, but the two extra XLs will come in handy in the future. Overall... Excellent!

I do kinda like the product. i love the idea of the shoes however, say your dog decides to pull in a different direction at something, the boots turn over on themselves and you have to stop what you are doing and rotate them back, also, the side claw on my dogs paws end up digging into her skin drawing blood and removing skin. when the boots work how they were intended however, they are awesome. if they could get around these flaws they would be perfect

EXCELLENT
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
When out working search training above the tree line and in the scree, my K9 partner tends to damage her pads. She starts to slow down and become more cautious in her walking. However, as soon as these booties are put on, she picks up the pace and uses the Vibram soles like they should - like a 4x on the Rubicon.
Issue is the fact that they can be difficult to see when the brush scapes off the bootie. I am trying a modification to help the boot stay on better and be more visible.
Buying in singles is a great idea because my partner has different front and rear feet sizes. And, when one gets lost, I only have to buy one.

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
The ruff wear boots have allowed our dog Beazer to hike over 18 of Colorado's beautiful 14ers! They provide necessary protection to his pads while adding traction on loose terrain. Unfortunately he has managed to loose a boot from time to time, so the ability to purchase singles is a nice option. The new design seems to fit better and reaches higher up around his leg for a snugger fit and hopefully, less chance of falling off. The socks should be used with the boots for long hikes to prevent chaffing and hair loss.

very good quality. Well put together, love the vibram sole.
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
My Doberman is much more comfortable on on our runs, no more limping from sore pads. The only drawback is his paws were rubbing in the boots and ended up getting raw and bleeding. But some elastic tape around his paw where they rubbed solved that problem. Maybe they could put a thin fleece liner in them to soften the insides. These boots are great in the fact that they actually stay on my guys paws! I would highly recommend these to anyone whose pup has sensitive pads!

The only thing I am not happy with is the web site and measurements. I had to return two boots (ordered different sizes for front and back) and ate the shipping charges.
They need to make it CLEAR how these boots sizes go. I measured both front and back and recieved a large and small set of shoes. The back were to tight and I had to send them back. They measure in .25" so the 2.5" paw gets a small boot, a 2.75" paw gets a medium boot and a 3" paw gets a large.
Other than that, these are awesome boots.

I originally purchased two sets of boots not knowing how long they would last. That was over twenty years ago. One set was lost by an inconsiderate former friend, former being the operative word. My other set is now showing signs of wear and I will have to replace them. I'd say that's a quality product. Having gone through three generations of Golden Retrievers ( over 20 yrs. ) I do a lot of mountain biking and your boots always give my Golden retrievers the edge on the trails. I couldn't recommend a better quality dog boot. Your new boots appear to have a better traction sole then my original boots and I can’t wait to get a new set. I have seen cheap knock-off’s in outdoor stores but your boots are the best. I am giving your dog boots a total of 10 stars out of a possible 5.

Exceeded my expectations
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
My chocolate lab sustained a puncture wound on her rear paw several years and it was surgically repaired. Unfortunately, because she is a very active lab, her injury returned and the veterinarian said that puncture wound was as small as a pin hole. Surgery was not an option because of the location of the puncture wound.
Over the past several years, I have used various dog booties, and she has worn all of them down making them unusable. The single Grip Trex Boot has worked out great and she has not had any problems. I have been using this boot for about 1 month.
The boot is well constructed and the rubber sole has held out in the terrain that she walks in.

Works under unusual circumstances
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
The super helpful staff at Ruffwear said the reason I needed this bootie was so far outside the realm of normal that they (and I) didn't know if it would work. But it did with flying colors!
My 115-pound rottweiler was bitten on the paw by a poisonous spider causing 2 of her toes to fall off. It was hard for her to walk on hard surfaces, a situation compounded by the fact that I live near an active volcano and the majority of ground here is lava rock.
The local canine search and rescue team suggested I try Ruffwear. Before the bootie I was lucky if she could walk 100 feet. Within days of using the bootie she could walk nearly a mile.
She wears the bootie every day for walks and can now handle walking on gravel, pavement, lava cinder, and lava rock. After months of daily use, the bootie is still in great shape. It has held up remarkably well!
Of the several hundred dollars I've had to spend on vet bills, meds, etc. for this situation the Ruffwear bootie was the best $16 I spent!
And people are always commenting on her special red "shoe".

I like it for my dog, because we often go on our boat and sometimes landing with the Dinghy- so for 1st.: not scratching the boat and 2nd: not making a whole in the rubber-dinghy. First she was very "astonished" about the boots, and walking like a ballerina, she now knows that boots mean Boat wher she is happily jumping in. You can also see the first try when we bought the boots in a large outdoor equipm.store, on YOUTUBE:Gipsy and her new red shoes.

Bronco loves to hike with us. The only problem is when we go someplace that has a lot of cactus or, in the summer, the ground gets too hot, we need to protect his paws. He still acts strange when we first put them on, but after a few minutes of having them all on, he is just fine and ready to go! Depending on how sandy the area is we need to dump sand out every-so-often, but it is better than having a cactus spine in-between the toes and infected!

I've never had a need for dog boots in the past, but when Bear injured his foot recently I needed something that would keep his bandage clean and dry while preventing him from removing the it or the stitches. I have to say that I'm now sold on these boots. I plan to have a set for regular use, but from now on I'll also have a boot or two on hand in my first aid kit. The quality of construction and materials is great and the boot stays on perfectly without being too tight on his paw. Just a great product all-around.

Amazing

So our lovely 7 yr old Labrador took a liking to scratch the brand new high pile carpet in the apartment we had just moved in. We tried all kinds of methods to keep her not doing that and eventually making giant holes into the carpet. Needless to say we have a HIGH pet-deposit in this place... Then as a last idea we started using earlier bought RuffWear Grip Trex booties on her front paws while we are gone - and the carpet is saved!! Thank you for creating such a multi-use boot! She is comfortable wearing them (extra cookie certainly doesn't hurt!) and she can still "make her spot" without damaging the carpet. We highly recommend these boots for carpet scratching pups as long as they don't mind wearing boots at the first place.
