love it

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Mya loves her Skyliner with the BarknBoot liners. Her front feet are a size difference from her hide feet. So remember to measure front and back.

Excellent Quality

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I purchased the Syliner for my dog Femi because of the type of salt that the snow removal crews use in my development have been sensitive to her paws. I was hoping to get "one more good snow" to see how she really responded to them, but unfortunately the weather broke and she hasn't had a real opportunity to use them and for me to see her in action. Any Ruffwear products that either myself or family members have purchased over the years have been exceptional. I certainly appreciated the detailed information regarding the boots so that deciding what was the right fit for my pup was made easier. She actually took to them pretty quickly. I had also purchased the liner socks so after the "boot dance" she actually started running around in them. Can't wait for next winter! She's all ready to go!

fair

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Otto seemed comfortable with them after the first few blocks of walking and even ran a bit. Have to be cinched very tight to keep them on. Boots with a higher cuff may stay on better. And on hard frozen snow or ice they slip more than his (natural) pads do. He did get a number of compliments on them.

Dissatisfied

Would you recommend this product?.: No

I tried these boots for the extremely cold days in Wisconsin and the salt we use on streets and sidewalks. I returned the boots since our corgi kept kicking the hind ones off no matter how tightly cinched. The boots themselves seemed to be well made, but the design just didn't work well. I think they need to extend higher up on the paw so they aren't so easy to kick off, for the hind legs at least.

Great boots, tricky fit

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

It only took one snow storm to convince me to purchase these boots. The ice melt and salt along the city streets and sidewalks were wreaking havoc on my pups paws. I could only take one day of her limping before I had these boots over-nighted! And I'm glad that I did! Lucy was kicking and running around in these boots as soon as I put them on! She loved them! The only problem is the fit. If you don't cinch them tight enough, they WILL fall off! I would also like to mention that after the first outing, one of the straps ripped off at the seam. Ruffwear customer service went above and beyond to get us a replacement in no time! I can't remember the last time I had such a positive interaction with a customer service team.

Okay

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I purchased these boots because my dog had paw problems after one of our daily runs in reserve in San Diego. Caveot, buy socks with the boots. I will explain. It is pretty rocky and she had punctured her paw so I ordered these boots after a cheap version at petco rubbed on her dew claws. Although these boots stayed on, and did not rub her dew claw, it rubbed elsewhere on her foot after two uses and she hid in her dog kennel from me after this. My 10 mile a day running companion had decided the boots were a no go. Some time later the sores showed up. The boots had worn off the top of her paw almost raw. I would get the product again, but I would buy solcksor wrap the dogs paws first to avoid any other potential problems from rubbing. We moved from Utah and she is not new to the boot experience since we were advid cross country and skate skiiers taking our dogs with us every chance we could get. For her to say no boot was a big deal.

Still having our pup adjust to the boots. I just need her to stop kicking them off. I haven't found chaffing yet since we haven't done any major outtings with them. I also teamed the boots up with the socks.

Works as intended, but not without issues

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

These boots work as intended. They keep our dog's paws free from snow, ice, mud, salt, etc. The only down side is we have to synch them tightly enough so they do not come off. Initially, we did not secure them tightly and he slid out of them. After some adjustment, we got the tension right, but they began to rub the outside of his paws and hot spots appeared. After that, we bought "dog socks" and put them on before the boots to reduce chaffing. So far, so good.

Awesome!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We both these shoes for Elvis, as he goes wherever our daughter does since he is her service dog. He doesn't mind them and they stay on his feet! They protect his precious paws from cold ice, snow and salt. We will be ordering the same shoes when he outgrows this pair.

doesn't fit

Would you recommend this product?.: No

Although the width was right, the length of the boot pad was way too short. The velco tightener was over the main foot pad. I have a pair of Bark'n Boots and at the smallest size are a little big so I was hoping these would fit better but no such luck.

Dog's Name: Maya

Date of Review: 1/7/2013

My canine companion(s): Chocolate Lab

They work quite well.

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Maya had a Fibrocartilaginous Embolization (spinal stroke) on 10/16. Maya is only 4 1/2 years old. She has recovered but still isn't using her left front paw correctly all the time. The shoe was to help her from scraping her paw and claws ( one of her claws was clipped to put a nonskid ring on but it broke in the process to the quick). The only problem we have with the boot is that Maya keeps wearing a hole on the top next to the leather because she tends to drag that paw when she is in a hurry (which is most of the time). She improves every day and the shoe helps her walk without hurting her claws. Is there anything that can be used so she doesn't keep wearing holes in the shoes? I have patched the two with the holes and put a vinyl fix on the other two. Thank you.

My canine companion(s): 2 pit bull terriers

Terrible

Would you recommend this product?.: No

Unfortunately, this is the first Ruffwear product that I've been unhappy with. I measured meticulously, got the correct size, and these things just won't stay on. Nora lost a wheel in the house a couple of times, but I just assumed I didn't have them tight enough. I tightened the heck out of them and took her outside, on leash. Within 45 seconds, 3 out of four were laying scattered on the lawn. Very disappointed, but I will continue to use Ruffwear, their I love their products, outside of these boots.

My canine companion(s): Terrier

Excellent

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

After our dog broke his back we had a long recovery time after surgery. The vet assistant suggested these boots and they have worked out so well. He began using four boots, then just two on the back, and now just one on his "less than perfect" foot and only in the house on our wood floors. He knows that the boot is a help and happily has one put on every morning.

Not happy

Would you recommend this product?.: No

I found these boots difficult to put on my dog and I have a very cooperative Doberman who wants to put his boots on to go run. Also, they wore all the hair off his front paws around where the dew claw would be and on one side rubbed him raw to bleeding. I will not purchase any more of these products. Great idea, poor design.

GREAT BOOTS!!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Living in Denver, our dogs need protection for their paws pretty much year-round. We had a hard time finding boots that were light enough in the summer but hardy enough to use in the Winter months and these boots are perfect for both. The fit is great, both of my dogs got used to the boots very quickly and they don't come off. Make sure to measure first for a perfect fit. Highly recommend!

the best out there

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We run horse back field trials lasting two weeks, on ground infested with spiny cactus. Every dog wears the Skyliners and we put these boots to the test. Nothing else works to protect the dog's feet. We put vet wrap on first and duct tape around the top up to the dew claws. They never come off.

Was expecting much more

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I love Ruff Wear, but I was very dissapointed with these boots. We couldn't find the right fit for my lab, I ended up buying Large but the back boots were too too big. They should sell them in pairs. I bought them late winter to protect my dog from the glassy ice on the sidewalk but after three times of use there was a whole on a side of the boot. I don't know if it was because they were a bit too large. I hated it but I had to return them. I also think that they're way too pricy. I would recommend to buy different sizes for the front and back paws but I don't know how can you do that if they don't sell in pairs.

Love

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We purchased the skyliners when we found out that Seamus had blown his ACL and needed to have knee surgery in November in Syracuse NY. After reading other reviews it was clear that these were going to be just the thing to get him through the recovery period and we were not let down. We have since learned that Seamus has a auto immune disease that effects his joints and o few months ago he went through a toe amputatiion. Out came the 'boot'. It was a god send in helping to keep him from chewing on bandages and keeping his foot clean and dry when we went on short walks at first and later our first hikes in the woods. I love this product and just wanted to thank you for making Seamus's life a bit easier! Peace, Sam

excellent

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My newf is 10 years old and has been having trouble getting up, especially at night. We only have ceramic and hardwood floors so she slips constantly and because she is a big dog it takes a lot out of her. We thought we would try these boots to give her traction during the night so we weren't awakened to have to help her up. These boots were exactly what she needed. She never did the doggy dance. It's like she knew they were to help her. They look so small too but fit her perfect. Thanks for the great product!

Great

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Our dog Jackson had an accident a couple of years ago that initially paralyzed his two back legs. With extensive therapy, we were able to gain almost full strength back in one leg and fifty percent in the other, which left him dragging his right foot. We have used all of the boots you offer and the Skyliner in particular we use as his "road bootie". Thanks for making such a great product! It has saved our Jackson's paws from further damage and he now can run like he used to on all surfaces.

good

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

A bit hard to put on; velcro must be quite tight to keep them on, don't know yet whether that is comfortable for her or not. She is a therapy dog being trained as a service dog and goes everywhere with me. That means some very HOT pavement in Phoenix, the primary reason for the boots. Have only tried to have her run in them once and they came off quickly. They may get better as she breaks them in and I am more proficient putting them on.

good concept, execution needs work

Would you recommend this product?.: No

Bought these so I could take my dogs biking and not have to worry about bloody pads. I agree with others who question the color choice. They are really hard to find if they come off! The straps have to be really tight to keep them on and they rub sores on the sides of their feet. The dogs fare better if I just ride right at the edge of the trail so that I can be on pavement while they run on grass. I used to run sled dogs and used booties for icy trails. Those booties had a stretchy velcro that made for a much more comfortable fit. They were also a lot cheaper, so losing one wasn't a big deal. I am tempted to just order a bunch of dog sledding booties. They will wear out faster on pavement, but they won't rub my dogs' feet raw.

My canine companion(s): cocker spaniel/ service dog

Excellent

Would you recommend this product?.: No

I love these boots. My dog is a service dog for me, and she needs to have boots because she is exposed to chemicals in parking lots and for protection during the winter. We had previously bought less expensive boots at our local pet store. They were uncomfortable, not designed well, and just plain awful. The skyliner boots are a perfect fit for general wear. They are waterproof to protect from puddles. And they protect her feet from cold, chemicals, etc. I am very pleased with the sizing, and with overall ease of ordering. And it is obvious to me that even with it only being the first couple of times that she has worn her new boots out, that she feels more comfortable in them, and their design is much better overall than the less expensive boots we bought before at the pet store. Well worth the cost and overall just great!

Pretty Good!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We bought our dog these booties for inside wear to protect our new wood floors from nail scratches. The are easiest to put on when the dog is lying down and stay on quite well. The back ones tend to come off more due to the back leg kick action, also smart pooch figures out how to undo the velcro when his foot is itchy! Overall best bootie we have tried! P.S. the velco and tie do wear out though!

The only choice in XXXS. Must have The Liners.

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

The Skyliner Boot is well made. It is currently the only offering in a winter boot for XXXS dogs. We had to purchase the Liners, to get the boots on, improve the fit, add warmth and comfort as well. Without the liners, the boots are difficult to put on, come off easily, are cold, stiff and very uncomfotable. We can only hope that Ruff Wear will soon offer the "Polar Trex" high top winter boot in a XXXS size, with a newly designed warm fleece lining. Only 3 stars for this design...but they will have to do...for now. Ruff Wear still makes the best dog wear. They are constantly monitoring customer feedback and making improvements to designs.

We have an old pooch, he is 16 years old with mobility issue. His rear legs are not working well and he can't stand up on hard wood floor we have. But with this booties, we can hold himself up for a long time without falling on the floor, and he is also able to use his muscle in which it serves a rehabilitation purpose. I love it and I recommend this product for those old dogs with a weak legs.

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I bought an xsmall, small, medium, a large to see what would fit my dog best. Her front paws are a small and her back feet are xsmall. However, the boots do not stay on. I have mixed and matched all sizes to see what works the best. Sadly, they all come off eventually during our walk. She doesn't mind wearing them and she doesn't try to take them off. I really wish they would fit her because she seems to like them. The socks are rather small. I purchased the large/xlarge size and they always slide off. I might try the grip trex boots to see if we will have better luck :/ The quality of the product is nice. The design needs work.

Massive difference (and missleading) difference in sizes between your two types of boots. May I suggest almost 'large dog' and 'small dog' boots (with Skyliner being small dog...). Just not long enough for my guys for the width they need. And I have the right size, and I ended up buying all the sizes to try and get them to fit!

My dog drags his back leg, and the top of the boot wears out pretty quickly. (Better than the foot getting bloodied). I've put "shoe goop" on the bootie and this helps prolong the life of the boot. We do tend to lose them and they turn around so that the top gets dragged even more. What is important is that they save his foot. I've tried other brands and so far this bootie works best.

nice quality, but wouldn't stay on

Would you recommend this product?.: No

We live aboard and travel extensively on our sailboat half the year. We bought the Skyliners as boat shoes for our dog - to help her with her footing while the boat was moving around, at sea. Unfortunately, they weren't tall enough, or designed such that they'd stay on her feet. They kept slipping down and off, and we had to return them. If they were taller such that the cinch staps could've been positioned above her "wrists", I think they might've stayed up. I think they also didn't fit her feet tightly enough to keep the soles directly under her foot pads when she was trying to walk on angled deck surfaces.

These are by fare the toughest booties I found but not very reflective. We lost one the other night and had to go back in the morning to find it. If you added more reflective tape, they would be exceptoional. I know..I am just being totally pickey now about them. We bought these for our son's service dog. Her feet get real hot in the summer on the pavement and she tends to get tired and want to quit working. So far they are good. Only problem we have is keeping them on if she is really active. We tried using regular kid socks like someone suggested, it didn't work for us. They didn't have her size in stock when we ordered her shoes. I did find some tight socks and they worked well, as long as she didn't run. I would say, if you are going to invest, invest in the socks as well. But make sure you size correctly. But other than that, they are great.

We have both the Skyliner and Grip Trex boots. Would be a great product if the shoe would stay on with the velcro strap. While this works, after having done it several times the boots are covered in adhesive and look horrible.

I liked the boots at first but had to watch my dogs feet very carefully because the velcro used seems to be a very cheap quality and starts to lift up. Now that there's snow on the ground, as soon as the velcro lifts up a bit, the snow gets in it and it's impossible to re-stick it so the boots fall off. I've lost one boot so far and at the price they cost, it's not worth it if you like to take your dog for walks in the snow. If you keep your dog on a leash and watch it's feet constantly then the boots would be okay.

Although these were tough to get on at first, my dog, Harley, sits down now and lets me slip them on, then he walks funny for about a minute and after that he is tearing around in the snow. I wanted some basic boots to use to take the dog jogging or protect his paws from salt in the winter. I found these at a store and had the storeowner help me fit them, and I chose these instead of the Grip Trex because the cuff on them looked like they might stay on a bit better. Well, the dog ran out of the car and around the parking lot and all 4 had flown off in about 10 seconds. I really wanted them to work - they looked so well-made, but they can't help us if they don't stay on!

My older GSP has arthritis in her feet and became reluctant to walk on anything cold and wet - a real issue in Seattle. Then she had surgery to remove a cyst from between her toes. I bought an xtra large boot to fit over her bandages. WORKS GREAT! She walked so much better in the boot, even with her sore foot that I bought two in the next size down and she likes wearing those on her front feet. Gives her protection from cold and from gravel and also provides traction. We call them her tire chains! The boots are stiff at first but the bottoms soften up with a few hours use improving the fit and the function. In shorthaired dogs, the sock prevents abrastion on the top of the foot and makes for easier on and off.

My old dog has arthritis in her hips and neuropathy in her hind paws, thus she tends to drag her hind feet on the sidewalk. After wearing out a toenail I decided she needed boots to protect her paws. The Skyliner boots have been great and she seems happy to wear them. At present she is only wearing two - on her hind legs - but I expect she will wear all four when the weather gets cold. I measured her paws following the web page instructions and although it seemed odd to be buying XS for a standard poodle they fit great and stay on fine.

I purchased it for my older boxer who cannot keep her back legs straight on the tile floors. Unfortunately, she could not keep them on because she drags one foot so one bootie kept coming off. We found some inexpensive rubber boots that work if we put rubber bands on her ankles. Maybe you could consider inventing something that would work to help older dogs stand. They wouldn't have to be thick, just skid resistant. We have friends who have the same problems with their older arthritic dogs. Thank you.

In no time she was used to them. I bought baby socks and put them on under the boots. The socks made it easier to put the boots on and helped with the gravel that made it into the boots while she was hiking. Wish they were a brighter color so when she lost one it would have been easier to find.

This was my first time trying the Slyliner brand because our Grip Trex ones werent in stock, and those are the ones i have used with great sucess. I bike with my Border Collie, Jet, and he's a very intense biker. He runs at full speed and without the protection of the boots he would end up with bloody paws after every outing, regardless on how i wrapped his paws with other protective gear. Trying these new boots out yesterday was not sucessful, however. Less than a mile out all four had flown off as he broke into a run. Im sure these boots would be good for a dog not so intense, but for us the Grip Trex is a tigher fit and more durable.

Oddly shaped

Would you recommend this product?.: No

I was recommended this brand of dog boot over another brand. I find that the quality surpasses the other brand, but the shape of the sole is too large, and the length of the "sock" is too short. We tried the extra small on my Pug, who has long skinny paws. The sole could have been an inch narrower, and I would have preferred it if the sock was about an inch longer and the velcro was up higher. Also, I think it would be better if when the sole of the empty boot is placed on the ground, the sock part would stand up, as the dog would wear it. My dog stumbled all over the place. It was funny, but guess the search continues.

You can tell this is a quality-made product and I was hoping it would work out for my dog. The small sock opening at the top of the boot made it very difficult to fit my dog's foot into the boot. She has long, thin paws and it was very difficult to get them on. Once on, no matter how tight I made them, they came off. I measured as directed and bought the x-small for my fifty pound dog. This may work better for a different shape of paw or something. A velcro opening at the top might aid in getting them on too.

The set I purchased for my labrador retriever are exceptional. Shipping and communication were immediate and professional. When I received the items, it was clear that they were top-tier. I have gone through several other (cheaper) brands that did not hold a candle to these boots. I purchased them primarily to protect my dog's paws from cold weather conditions and salt spray used to reduce ice here in Chicago. They fit snuggly and protect my dog's feet very well. The boots appear shorter than I originally expected, and the velcro straps lower on the ankle than I expected. I don't know if it would be better to have the velcro higher -- but, I can confirm that none of the boots have fallen off, yet. Construction quality is excellent. I highly, highly recommend this product.

Good

Boots work great. My dog loves to wear them and they really do help to protect the paws. The only improvement I could suggest is that they already come lined. It can be a pain to have to put the socks on first.

Not for my dog

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

These boots kept falling off my dog's paws. I have been looking all over for a taller boot that will fit a larger dog but haven't had any luck. These are super-cute, though. Might work for smaller dogs that aren't as active.

wonderful!

These are the only boots that I have found that will actually stay put! The rubber bottom is great and I use them all the time to protect my dogs paws from the ice/snow/cold!

My dogs just don't have legs long enough to have the boots stay on! Company is great, though, great service and care.

Fair

The product does not quite fit our dog's feet. The booties stay in her back feet. Unfortunately, she is an especially tall golden so the booties do not stay on her front feet leading to her tripping and straining a paw. The booties do not seem to work well for dogs that have long paws.

Excellent

We purchased the Skyliner boots to protect our dogs feet during the cold, snowy, icy, winter months. We've used them numerous times so far and they have proven invaluable. The boots are comfortable enough for 60 minute walks and rarely, if ever fall off. They keep our pups paws dry and warm. She loves these boots!
