Warm Coat!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Went camping and got a chance to use this coat on Miss Moe Hawk. She love it! FB pics are posted. Fits her really well (XXS). I like the flap, on the zipper side. Keeps all her hair out of the zipper. Fits well under the Front Range Harness too!

Comfortable Base Layer

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My dog wears this as a first layer of clothing and it fits him well. The zippers, stitching, and materials used for this fleece are great. The front paw and neck openings look snug, but the material stretches a bit for an athletic, tapered, fit.

Best coat ever

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Drake is a strappy young, food motivated dog that possesses zero body fat and an undying amount of energy. He thinks that anything that touches his body deserves to be destroyed violently. This jacket is the only one that is comfortable for him, easy to get on (for me) and really does a good job keeping him warm. Another great product RuffWear!

Great!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I can't believe how many stupid dog outfits we have at home. Needless to say the dog hates most of them! They either don't fit properly, are tricky to get into or take of, and quite a few of them don't really protect from the cold wet weather. The Climate Changer fits snugly enough to prevent water or snow from getting in but is still easy to put on. The fabric is thick enough but still stretchy enough to be comfy. The cut is well thought out, the zipper is in the right place and the whole thing looks great!

Very nice fleece coat.

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My long haired dog had to be shaved for surgery during -10F temps. I got him this and a K-9 Overcoat. This washes well and fits him well. It's a nice added layer under the overcoat, and kept him warm in the cool house while he had no hair. He had a little bit of chafing around the leg holes, probably due to him getting it bunched up while he slept. Doesn't seem to be a problem while he's outside. This can be a bit of a challenge to put on an anxious dog, but it's not too difficult. It stays in place quite well.

Awesome design

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Working a short coated service dog in the winter requires a coat. This is the first coat that has not caused shoulder rubs on my deep chested service dog. It's thin enough to fit well under his harness and not cause it to not fit properly, and light enough that while in heated buildings he doesn't overheat, but warm enough so that he's not chilled and shivering when we're outdoors walking. Love the size zipper.only problems I have with mine is it's a little snug. My boy was right in between sizes and I ordered down, shoulda ordered up, but that's not ruffwear's fault.

Absolutely love it!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I bought both dogs the Climate Changer because of the use of Polartec. We live in the coldest part of Pennsylvania and I've been on the search for the right coat. When I got them the first thing I noticed was that they fit both dogs perfectly across the chest and around the neck. They are both broad in the chest and it's hard to find a proper fitting coat. It's was -20 windchill when I got them. I took them out put them on and away we went to play in the snow! I cannot say enough good things about them. I use them with the Cloud Chaser in extreme cold and snow.

I bought this for my Weimaraner and love it! It fits her perfectly and is very easy to get on and off. She doesn't mind wearing it either. I've had problems finding good fitting coats for her because of the deep chest, but this one seems tailor made for her. I have since bought another for her. I bought one for my Min Pin who is also hard to fit, but the smallest size was just a little too long for him. If he was a girl I would have kept it! Very well made, quality garment.

Didn't work for us

Would you recommend this product?.: No

Unfortunately this product didn't work out for Kota. The material is great, zipper to get it on was fabulous, love the orange color for visibility when hiking, really good coverage (especially on the underside) to keep her warm. I also liked that it kept the shoulder area covered unlike many other jackets. Overall the Medium was a great fit for her (65#, deep chested), except the arm holes... She developed chafing with redness and then scabs on the front part of her elbow where the arm hole goes around. The arm hole was tight (not tight enough that I was worried about it cutting off circulation) but tight enough that it rubbed her constantly. Either the arm holes should be made a little bigger, or maybe a softer material instead of the elastic around the margin. REI let us exchange it even though we had gone on a few hikes with it. Looked at the next size up, but the arm holes were same size as the medium. Ended up getting the K-9 overcoat instead, but I think this jacket would have been warmer. My recommendation would be to make sure its not too snug around the arms, otherwise, choose another one of Ruff wear's great products.

Stella loves the jacket! The medium fits her perfectly and keeps her warm-she loves to be outside. We got the jacket in purple dusk. We've been looking for a fleece jacket that zips on the side AND covers her stomach since she has very little hair. A little pricey but if it keeps her warm then it's worth it!

Excellent

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I only have one caveat for this product: choose the size carefully! We purchased the large for our 70+ lb. vizsla, but had to return it for a medium. It fits snugly on his chest, but fits well around his back and withers. We spend a lot of time in cold weather, and he loves his Climate Chaser! Except when he's hunting, it stays on him all the time. Because he has some allergy problems, it has the added benefit of keeping him from scratching the affected areas, and seems to have an overall soothing effect on him...

A friend's dog had the Climate Changer in Purple Dusk and I loved it - the color and the fit. So I ordered one in Purple Dusk for my dog. Unfortunately it wasn't the same color as in the photo, or as the one my friend had. It said "purple dusk" on the label, but wasn't really purple. Prior to ordering, I followed the fit guide and measured my dog, yet the medium was too snug around the neck and leg area. I returned it and didn't reorder. Had I liked the color I would have tried a large. My advice: don't expect the pretty color shown in the photo if you order the "Purple Dusk." Also for the price I would have expected a higher quality feeling product.

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

The Climate Changer is by far the best fitting coat I've ever found. Most dog coats just have a belly strap that hardly stays on, but the climate changer covers the entire chest and neck area of my dogs. It fits snug on my chesty pit bull mix, and a little lose on my skinny guy, but because it is fleece, they are both super comfortable in them. I've had one of the coats for over two years and the zipper still works just fine, they play rough in them and we haven't had any problems! You might be a little surprised by the price - but I can tell you it is certainly worth it.

Good Qualify

Really want to love these sweaters. Color, construction, and the reflective stripe are all great and it's clearly high qualty. But they just don't fit my pointing dogs optimally. My weim is 70 lbs (large) and pointer is 55 lbs (medium). The big issue is the leg holes are rubbing because the coats run tight in the chest area for these breeds and it's causing red marks. I retrofitted the leg holes for my pointer to overcome this and will need to do the same for the weim. In other areas they fit just fine.

We use this on our dog to go trail running in the fall with temperatures around 20-35 degrees farenheit and as a base layer with the Quinzee Insulated Jacket once temperatures start getting below freezing and into the negatives. Easy to get on and off and fits great. When used in conjuction with the Quinzee she starts panting while in the house waiting for us to get suited up. She has a relatively thin coat similar to a Doberman or Pit Bull Terrier. Great product.

Ruffwear does have some sizing issues between products they should resolve. I ordered this for my smallest pit (according to size charts) in medium. Could not even come close to closing the neck section. About 2 inches of opening and I was choking her already. Luckily, this fit the smaller lab mix just fine. So, I'll keep it for her. I didn't want to keep sending things back until I got the size right. I ordered a K-9 overcoat for the small pit in medium and that fit her just fine. Go figure? climate changer in medium is way to small. K-9 overcoat in medium is good. (maybe just a little to the large side). The products are very well made and seem to do what they are intended for. The dogs seem to be OK with them after they got used to them. If only I could get the sizing issues solved. It could get expensive sending things back. But the company and products are top notch.

Perfect if you're built like a bull dog and don't have hair.

Would you recommend this product?.: No

It is neatly made, stylish. The picture gave me the impression that it would be lined, but onlly the neck is, so the fleece can bind on the fur around the chest and arms, also pick up hair and get nasty. I noticed one dog had sores rubbed in his arms do to this.. Wich I had read that before. It isn't long enough and my dog's back half is exposed. My dog measured right in the middle of the large size. The large fits my 44 pound lab mix better. Haven't decided if I will keep it for the other dogs or return it. A disappointment for the expensive price. Would I recommend? luke warm MAYBE --- depending on your dog and your expectations. Certainly not a "Yes!". Why put that exclamation point in the "Would you recommend" box? People are shouting Yes! to Ruffwear? Really? C'mon...

Strange Fit

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This is a very well made product. Keeps our Great Dane warm in the chilly WI winters. However, the fit is an issue. Like most Danes, ours has a large chest and small waist. It fits him appropriately around his chest, but is way too large around his waist, and too tight around the front legs. As others have mentioned, after 30 minutes of running, our poor guy's front legs were rubbed raw. So we now use it for shorter, less strenuous activities like quick walks.

The Climate Changer has the perfect combnatoin of coverage/warmth and freedom of movement that keeps the dogs warm and happy. They can lounge around on a cold day or run free on the trails. Our dogs are so used to them now that when I sit down next to them and they sniff the jacket in my hands, they lift first one leg, then the other, I zip and they are off and running!

This is a great coat and fit well for my deep chested GSP. Its easy to put on, unlike some of the pull over the head kind of coats and also nice because it covers the under-belly enough but not too much for my male when he has to "go". My GSP did manage to chew the zipper! Aaahh! So a way to put the zipper totally on the back of the coat/back of the dog would be completely out of reach for chewers.

Great Product, A Bit Overpriced

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This is a really high-quality coat, and it fit my Doberman Pinscher perfectly which is unusual to find off-the-rack. It's great for her romps at the dog park and on walks where it's cold but not completely freezing. It's a little bit tough to get on whether it's zipped up or not, but we figured out a routine to get her into her fleece. I have other heavier coats for extremely cold weather and for rainy days, but this is perfect for long walks in temperatures to about freezing. It's a wee bit overpriced (10-20%) in comparison to other coats including custom made ones, but I have yet to find a pink/purple color which I love. All of our (human) friends loved the coat and wanted to know where to get it, and it was funny to watch her dog friends not know what to make of the big pink Doberman at first!

My canine companion(s): Catahoula Leopard Dog

Perfect for winter!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Bought this for our Catahoula, who has very thin fur and almost no fat on his body. Needless to say, he gets cold pretty quick when the temps start to drop in Colorado. He's a long and lanky 42lbs and the size small fits him really well. It's nice and long, and isn't too tight. If he wears it too much the sleeves rub the fur on the front of his legs, but his fur is pretty sensitive to this, so I don't think that would be the case if your dog has thicker fur. He loves when we put it on, and I can tell he is comfortable wearing it. He wears it on walks if it's under 20, and wears it to bed when it's cold out since we keep the temps down in our house. I would certainly recommend! Note: If you have a male dog with a shorter torso, you might have an issue with them peeing on the underside. Our guy is really lanky so it isn't a problem, and I think even most regular length torsos would be fine. Overall it's a great product. Well made, really soft and thick, easy to put on/take off, and it looks great!

I bought this coat in a Medium to use on each of three different sized dogs when I take them out... it's a little tight on my big, muscly 72lb pit (and a little short) but still works. Fits my older, 60lb pit great and is a little baggy on the 46lb Sussex Spaniel. The dogs love wearing it though and have learned to put their paws in the leg holes when I put the coat on the ground for them. Would definitely recommend this UNLESS your dog is long bodied at which point you may find it too short (we also ordered an XXS for our 10lb JRT mix and it was crazy-short on her)

OK

Would you recommend this product?.: No

This is a well made coat, but it's poorly proportioned for our 80lb German Shepherd. The large fits through the chest as it should, but the neck is very tight and the waist very loose. The main problem, however, is that the sleeve hems are very tight and quickly rubbed sores on the front of my dog's legs. I had to do a bit of field tailoring and cut them out. Sizing up might have solved these problems, but then the coat would have been super loose in the waist so it would have been a trade-off. I'd recommend this if the leg openings were much larger and higher up, and maybe a bit farther forward - not sure why this coat needs sleeves anyway.

It feels great to the touch, and the dogs are very comfortable wearing it

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

The staff people were nice enough to send me the neck to hem measurements for the larger coat. It is hard to find something that fits my border collie, she is thin, but long, and most coats including other styles of ruffwear are a little short on her. We have the cloud chaser, that is great, but the climate changer is almost 2 inches longer, and gives her better coverage over the hips. The coats arrived in time of need, since we were affected by the storm and had no heat or electricity for a while, so the dogs were actually sleeping with the coats on. They are also able to run and do all sorts of activities without being bothered by them. And last, but not least, they have a sporty and ruff look, that comes in handy when you need to keep your working dogs warm. They look like working athletes ad opposed to spoiled pets :)

My dog has such short hair and I wanted something that would truly keep her warm instead of a coat that barely covered her back like most dog coats. I shopped around for quite awhile for something cheaper but decided to order the Climate Changer and I am so glad I did. It fits her well and covers her entire chest and zips up. It is very high quality. If you're debating on size, use the size chart to a T. My dog measured 26" chest and I went with the Medium thinking "she's not a small size dog" but I really should've gotten a small. It would have been more snug but I'm happy with it

Great Product!

Normally one would not think an Aussie would need to wear a cozy coat (they are so fuzzy!). However, my dear girl has terrible allergies and, as a result, has lost a significant amount of her hair. I have been searching for a durable, comfortable and well made garment for her to wear during the colder months and I have finally found it. Living in Colorado, we have now had two snow storms since having the Climate Changer and I must say it has made all the difference in the world. It is extremely well made, does not bunch, fits well and looks nice. The stitching has a faint reflective quality so when it is low light outside it provides a great safety feature. The side zipper is extremely handy for taking it on and off and, so far, it has held up in the wash and every day living. I love the length and the dimensions on the website were spot on. My gal is approximately 40lbs with a 27" chest and the medium fits perfectly (with just a tad extra space around the neck). Overall, would HIGHLY recommend.

We ordered these coats for a backpacking trip in the Canadian Rockies, as our two short haired dogs get chilly at night when camping, even in the tent and on the coast. The coats fit great - we got mediums for both dogs, and they fit well despite the fact that our staffie mix is a lot stockier than the other dog. They did a great job keeping the dogs warm and we could really feel the heat that was being trapped under the fleece! We will be bringing these on all of our camping trips from now on, and using them for snowshoeing this winter! LOVE Ruffwear products, they have never let us down!!

LOVE IT!

We have the smallest size boston terrier, she is about 12 Ilbs and the xxs size perfectly fits her. Although she is small, she loves going on hikes with us. In the cooler mountain air she is more comfortable. Thank you Ruffwear for the great product. For sure going to purchase more stuf!!

Perfect for dry cold days

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

The large fits my 75lb doberman male very well. No binding in the chest or front legs, so absolutely no rubbing. The orange color looks great on him too (he's chocolate with rust accents). Perfect amount of warmth for his thin/short hair on cold mornings or days. Also rolls up well to fit in his approach pack.r
