Excellent.

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Maggie stays warm and dry in her Cloud Chaser. I did, however, have some trouble with the sizes. I ordered her a medium based on the measurements offered, but it was too snug in the neck area and around her chest. The size Large, which she now wears, is a little big but overall more comfortable for her. She wears a hoodie underneath, which works out great. The zipper works like a charm. Maggie looks really sharp in her Cloud Chaser; it was a great purchase. Dries quickly and is always ready for her next walk.

Excellent

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Very well made and designed dog coat! My dog has an unusual build- wide chest, long body, short legs, larger girth- so she is hard to fit when it comes to a dog coat. A small is too small & a medium usually too big in one way or the other. So the length of this coat is a little long as are the legs. I love the zipper and snug fit through the body. It took her a few cold days to get used to the feel of it but all is well now. The only negative is her hair sticks to the lining like crazy & it's hard to clean it off. I wanted a coat that keeps the snow from packing around her chest and arm pits. I'm sure this coat will do the trick even though I may have to shorten the legs a bit.

Hands down the smartest purchase I have made for winter hiking

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My Jack Russell Terrier is just over a year old and has a lot of energy. Joe uses this jacket for 4-5 mile trail runs in 20-35 degree temps. This jacket does a great job of keeping Joe warm even when out for winter hikes for a couple of hours. I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone.

love it

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Our puppy Eoin does not have hair like other dogs - no under coat so he gets cold. The new coat allows him to stay nice and toasty outside here in the mountains. He can also run and play like a puppy without any restrictions in his movements. It's also a great night shirt.

Well Made, comfortable, functional

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I ordered this coat, after seeing how functional and comfortable this was on my friends active service dog in training. I have to say I love it even more now. We have only just started using this item and both my service dog and I adore it. He didn't appear to be over warm going from outside to inside. It fit perfectly under his gear without bunching or moving around. While I wish there was other color option the black looks good on my German Shepherd

LOVE IT!!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I am so happy with the Cloud Chaser. I bought an XS (girth size 17"-22). My youngest Cairn is a 17" and my 6 year old is a 22". It fit them both perfectly. I love how snug it is, but also allows movement because the belly side and the legs are made from such nice stretchy fabric. They both look darling in it. They are both girls. I put the Cloud Chaser on my boy cairn, and it will not work because it covers his privates. Hope that Ruff Wear will address this issue for the boys. There is no way he could wear it outside without getting it all wet. Please FIX!! and I will buy another coat!

Nice Idea

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I would recommend this product to friends if their dog is shaped for it. I love the feel, weight, and construction of this jacket. However, as stated in previous comments, the fit isn't good for an athletically (slender)built dog. I have an Irish Wolfhound and got this jacket more to keep him dry than anything. Problem is that he is too deep-chested for the large size, but too small in the neck and abdomen for the extra-large. I'm bummed cause I really like the jacket and wanted it to work.

great quality and durable

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Our little Suri has a very thin coat so she needs that extra layer in inclement weather - we live in Indiana and winters can get pretty brutal. So far we love the jacket - she can run and move with no problem and I Love that it covers her underside nicely, whereas most sweaters and jackets don't. We would definitely purchase this jacket again - it seems to be very warm too, even though it is lightweight. When I take it off, her body is very warm, as is the inside of the coat, so it does a nice job of holding in her body heat.

Good quality coat

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We take our dogs snow shoeing in Vermont and other winter activities. They all have Ruffwear coats. I use the Cloud Chaser as an under coat, and put a warmer coat with no belly coverage on top. It's great that it covers the belly so well, for my female dog. However, for a male dog this can cause a problem, as peeing is not possible anymore. Leo has a girth of 20 inches and a size XS, but it covered his belly completely and peeing was not possible. I had the coat altered, basically cut out an opening in the fabric. Problem solved, but I wished there was also a "boy" version of this coat. Weird thing is that I did not have this problem with the Climate Changer, de fleece coat, which he also has.

Very Good

I like this jacket a lot. The small fits my 30lb terrier well. It keeps his back and stomach dry and clean. It's great for cool to moderately cold weather. It is a bit difficult to put on if you have a fidgety dog, although if you work with your dog, you should be able to train them to hold still to get it on.

Great product, whoever I'll be using it more for walks than runs. I run with my 3-yr old weim on a daily basis (5miles at avg pace of 6:30 min / mile). I've been noticing that the jacket causes chaffing issues on my dog's left front-inside arm. I believe the issue is the seam on the inside of the jacket. This is the only reason for my rating of 4/5 stars.

This is the first dog coat I've purchased in 5 years that I'm satisfied with. The fact that it has a zipper instead of Velcro is awesome! I was having to duct tape his old coat on him because the velcro was so full of hair. The first night I walked him with his new coat on it was raining and cold. The coat kept him completely dry and warm. He's about 65 pounds and thick around the neck, chest and shoulders, the large fits him perfectly, not too tight and not too loose.

Very effective!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Josie and I spent a week in Yellowstone with my college class, in early October. Unfortunately, as adventurous as she is, she starts shivering when it gets down to the 40s - and we were told to be prepared for snow! I was pretty stressed about finding the right gear, because lacking it would prevent me from attending, but Ruffwear had us covered! It was below freezing every morning in cabins without heat, and the coat went on immediately. With it, she was able to tolerate temperatures as low as 30 degrees without shivering; if it was in the 30s all day or we weren't moving around much, I added her lined denim work vest on top for extra warmth. If there was frost (or rough gravel) on the ground, she was also wearing her Summit Trex boots. On the night it got down to 23 degrees, though, she slept in the coat and was still shivering until I invited her into my sleeping bag. Though I appreciate the design with the small sleeves, she does not - zipping on the side instead of the under-belly closure she's used to with her vests and the snug fit of the jacket meant there was some stretching involved with zipping, and it is definitely her least favorite piece of gear - perhaps tied with the boots. She spends a good bit of time pretending she doesn't know basic commands now that she's wearing this new thing, even though we've done several training sessions just for the jacket. Still, I expect this from Josie - and a less snotty dog might not mind so much. For 30-50 degree weather, including wind and rain, this is the best suited Ruffwear product and I can't find anyone to beat Ruffwear's quality or dedication to service animals!

My canine companion(s): Border Collies

May not work for athletically shaped dogs.

Would you recommend this product?.: No

I have four border collies. Of the four, these coats fit one. On three of them, the small is too small in the legs and neck (to the point where the armholes cause chafing if worn for any length of time), fits well through the chest, has too much fabric in the waist/hip area, and is not quite long enough. It's the chafing that's the deal breaker. However, if I size them up to the medium, they're just SWIMMING in it. and their legs get stuck in the sleeves all the time because there's so much fabric everywhere. These three are all around 35lbs. I have one dog who can fit this product reasonably well. He wears a medium, and the sleeves/neck are a little roomy, but not so roomy as to cause problems. It fits him well through the chest, and the length is adequate, however, there's tons of fabric around the waist/hips, so it's still not ideal. He weighs 45lbs. It's a shame, because this product is well constructed, and is exactly what I need. There are just so many fit issues for dogs with athletic body shapes. (I think this was made for lazier/bulkier all over dogs--yellow labs and the like would probably suit this very well.)

My boy was injured on his side at day care. He zigged when he should have zagged right into the open maw of one of his buddies. I needed to find a way to keep him away from his stitches other than the "Cone of Shame". You never put a sight hound in a "Cone of Shame". So I though this looked like a good fit. It worked great. He was comfortable and left his wound alone! Not what the product was made for, but it worked like a champ!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Ed and I go hiking in the Sierras usually anywhere between 4k and 7k ft above sea level. Up there the weather is unpredictable, the terrain is a mix of rocky/pine forest and meadow and sand (lake shores) I always keep the Cloud Chaser, the Swamp Cooler, and the K-9 Overcoat in my pack. I've found the Cloud Chaser to be a sturdy design and; so far, resistant to tearing. When it get's really cold I use it as a base layer under the K-9 Overcoat. Ed is happy and comfortable with it, it doesn't limit her range of motion and the piping really does help to make her more visible. I would highly recommend this product.

I love this Cloud Chaser jacket for my guide dog. I use it for cold rainy days, when it is snowing, hailing, sleeting, or is simply just very cold out and we need to be outside for an extended period of time. It is very low profile, and fits close to the body. It covers the dog's back, chest and stomach, but does not interfere with the dog's ability to go to the bathroom. I LOVE the fact that it zips down the dog's back (as opposed to closing with velcro, which my dog's hair always gets caught in). It keep my guide dog dry, so when I get to where I am going I just have to dry her head, legs, feet and tail.

Leila is a recent rescue from the south, and she was constantly shivering in the NY weather. We tried other jackets from the pet store, but had to return them all. Nicely made, fabric could be sturdier

Would you recommend this product?.: No

The size S fits our female Brittany perfectly, and this jacket provides great warmth and protection on really cold winter runs. It's well-made with a good quality zipper, and not hard to put on our dog. It would be perfect for a dog that's primarily walked on-leash. My one complaint is that for an active dog running off-leash through a bush, the fabric is not sturdy enough. Our dog ripped the shoulder (softer dark fabric) of the jacket on the second time wearing it, and we've repaired it once and now need to repair it again. We're planning to experiment with adding shoulder patches of a heavier fabric for next winter.

I love this jacket for my service dog!! It is nice and sleek and is form fitting so it fits very well under her vest! I really like that it goes under over her paws and have sleeves unlike a lot of other jackets from pet stores that just Velcro around their neck. I LOVE THIS JACKET. I did order one size up because of how long my dog is and I wanted it to go further down her back and it fits her perfectly still. I'm not sure if the recommended size would be too small in general but I'm assuming it would fit because they're a stretchy material. But if you have a long dog, I would recommend getting one size up so it goes more the length of their body.

I love this jacket. My only complaints is that it's not puppy resistant. But what really is. After a few hours alone in our backyard our puppy had chewed holes into our labs coat. My only other complaint is that the waterproof part is only on top. I wish it extended over the chest and belly. We took then for a walk in the rain and their under sides were very wet. I love the reflective stripe and the part that IS water proof really works. I can tell it locks the heat in as well because our boxer/pit has a very thin coat and when wearing this jacket he is shivering! I highly reccomend it for rainy snowy areas.

I took my dog for a three day hiking trip on the AT in Virginia. The temp when I got out of the truck was 0 degrees F and hiking up the mountain with the windchill dropped to around -10 to -15 degrees F with 12 inches of snow on the ground. That jacket kept her warm all day for a 9 mile hike. The next two days were both 9 miles each with warmer temps around 20-30 degrees F. This jacket was a great purchase.

Looks good and keeps Rocky looking good

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We live in a wooded area, and bought this more to ward off burrs and thorns than to ward off the cold -- but it does a good job of both. The sleeves provide added protection compared to most vets. Our dog rolled it in some muck, but I hand washed it and it cleaned up easily. The color provides some contrast against the snow, and the reflective piping is visible in the dark up to 30 or 40 yards if you have an LED headlamp. The medium is a perfect fit for a 40 lb Golden-doodle with a 28-inch chest.

This coat accentuates my Vizsla’s athletic body plus keeps her warm and dry. The material is very stretchy allowing my dog to run and jump with ease. We live in a cold and snowy environment and this coat is perfect for her when I go snowshoeing. When I take the coat off, she is toasty warm. My deep-chested dog is 48 pounds and a medium is the right size for her.

THE EXACT jacket we were looking for

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We wanted a sleek, well-fitting thin jacket for our Border Collie/Aussie mix. Her coat is naturally thick enough to protect her from the cold, but we wanted something to help keep her dry from rain and snow. She loves both, but we hate cleaning her up after. The Cloud Chaser is perfect because it helps protect her from the wind, keeps her dry, and, best of all, because it covers her chest and part of her belly and legs. In really wet weather or when she's running through tall wet grass, some dampness will come through the stretchy bottom portion. But it's just a little bit of dampness with none of the mud and muck that she'd otherwise be covered in. She is right between a small and a medium, but the small was too tight for her (she has a narrow but deep chest) and the medium gives better coverage on her back since it's longer. Yes, this is a rather pricey dog jacket. The quality is great, though. Plus, she looks really stylish and outdoorsy in it :)

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Bought this coat for my oldest dog for the extra cold days. I had read on Amazon that the coats run a little small so, since his chest measured in the small but close to the medium range, I order a medium. Not True! The jackets are true to size. So he wore the medium coat, slightly modified, until the small size arrived. I also ordered a large for the cattle dog. All of the dogs love their coats. The Pit/Boxer, who can be finicky, loves to be outside in the cold now. Since she is a short-haired dog we use the Cloud Chaser under another coat for her on frigid days. They all look great running in the park together, like a team of athletes. We all know that dogs are a little vain and these handsome, well-made coats feed their vanity and keep their core organs warm at the same time. Wonderful jackets for Fall, Winter and Spring for Deno and Oreo. A true 4-season coat for my short-haired Sedona.

Chase loves to run around outside and play fetch for hours. In the colder weather, this frequently results in a shivering pup determined to stay outside. With the cloud chaser, Chase is able to play to his heart's content and I am not forced into the role of mean parent who ends the fun too soon.

The Cloud Chaser, like of Ruffwear's products, is wonderful. It's well made, fits perfectly, and looks good. The only issue I've encountered is that it's a bit more work to get on compared to the Webmaster harness, which Willow just walks into. I think once she gets used to it will be similar; she'll jump iin to it because she knows it's time to go play.

OUTSTANDING

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Dennis feels the cold badly , specially when wet. The little guy insists on keeping up with the other bigger ranch dogs helping on our 30 acre horse training facility. It gets fairly cold in these parts, upper 20's in the mornings during winter is not uncommon. Dennis is now quite comfortable staying outside wearing his Cloud Chaser. No more shaking and trembling when the weather is cold and wet. The coat repels water and dirt and is quite easy to keep clean. This is the most functional coat I've seen on a dog. The design is also very well thought out and Dennis never soils it even though he has to 'mark' his property all day long.

The coat is very sleek and wonderfully designed. Don't listen to the bad reviews that the coat is thin. I have human running gear that weights 1/3rd the puffy coats and I am twice as warm. This is what the coat reminds me of. Fits great under the webmaster harness for my dad's beagle Coby. He really looks like a paratrooper ready to jump out of a helicopter and dive on bunnies. He coat has a great thin insulation underneath a waterproof exterior that beads water up and keeps it away from the dogs fur. Well worth every penny and on the level of any running/hiking coat that would be made for a human. Attention to detail is key.

Don't listen to the reviews that state this product is thin. Thin does not mean ineffective in repelling water and holding warmth. Have you ever purchased high end running gear (for humans)? I have gear that is 1/3rd lighter than my puffy coats but I am twice as warm. That is this coat. The cold snow and water beads off and does not stick on the dogs fur. The design is gorgeous and fits wonderfully under the webmaster harness.. They are a perfect combo. The detail is tremendous and will leave you in awe of this company. Your dog will be happy.

While I must admit the pups look a little over dressed to be walking around Harlem in these coats :-) they are perfect for the need. They are lightweight and fit well, no restriction to movement and will be great when the snow arrives. They appear to keep the pups warm also (while they don't look like they would) both are always warm when I take the coats off. Rain proof, wind proof and washable - perfect.

Perfect fall/winter jacket!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Loki has no undercoat, so the winter winds had been really tough on him until I ordered this jacket online. He's about two and a half feet tall, three feet long, and 95 pounds. The large is a little roomy, but he's still growing, so I think it will be perfect. He barely notices that the jacket is on, and the stretch material lets him move freely. He already knows how to step into the jacket, so he must like it. So far, the material shows no wear from hiking and dog park trips, so I like the jacket too! It's reflective as well, which is awesome for our daily jog or walks in the city. I don't put it on him unless it is below freezing, because he gets too warm otherwise.

upgrade from previous version

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Did you know Dobermans melt in water? Well, they do! I purchased this jacket in anticipation of the cold and snow to come because my youngest will no longer fit the older Cloud Chaser we have. This version is an upgrade for sure...the fabric is very robust but also very flexible so fits my pup like a glove and moves with him. I have never had zipper issues, but this version has a snap at the end of the jacket where the zipper stops to ensure the zipper will not come undone. The black jacket makes my red Dobie look like a sleek ninja instead of a tomato. My pup has a 32" girth and is about 27" long, based on RW's charts I ordered a large and it works great for him.
