Nicer than any breathable garment in my closet!!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This is a beautifully made, technical garment perfect for athletic dogs (and maybe armchair athletes too!). I am a commercial dog walker/hiker in the wet, cold, Pacific NW and every one of my clients has purchased one of these. For shorthaired, bird dog shapes (deep chest, small waist, long body) it is a great fit with plenty of stretch and leeway for activity. My 50 lbs GSPs wear a medium with room, 60 lb Viszlsas wear a medium snugly (actually we had to insert a small gusset in the neckline but the rest of the coat fit him perfectly so it was worth it). My Rhodesian Ridgebacks (size xl and small Pit clients (medium) had trouble with chafing under the armpits but they have this problem with any sleeved garment. Warm and waterproof with good coverage underneath. Wash with nikwash or sportwash and it will last years and year. We had one zipper failure but the other 14 coats are going strong! Fits the labs well (Size L for short, 65 lb english style lab) and keeps the goldens hair clean( Size L for 70 lb lean golden. Better than fleece for brush and burrs but not burr proof.

Great product

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We originally got this for the dog who has a thin hair coat. He gets cold easily, and usually ends up making a nest between our sleeping bags, until we used the cloud chaser. He stayed on his side. :) Even on rainy days, he stayed bone dry and warm.
The other dog has a thicker coat, but I'm ordering another for him too.

Very nice

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I really like this jacket but I do have some trouble with the fit. Mostly it fits very nicely due to the stretchiness of the fabric. The problem is that the neck of the coat is to tight of a design for a stocky dog (and she is NOT even the stockiest pit I've ever met!). That being said the material is great on the not fraying aspect so I just cut a slit down the front of the neck to the level of my dogs sternum and that helped. The legs are tight but have never caused any problems but we haven't done a ton of long walks/hikes in it either. I've never had any problems with the zipper.

I LOVE the styling, I can tolerate the fit and I just really like Ruffwear products.

Great fit

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We first bought the K9-jacket. It didn't fit our dog at all. At the chest it was too large and the length of the jacket was too short. Then we decided to buy the cloud chaser and it fits perfectly! It's very comfortable and our dog doesn't mind wearing it. It also fits perfectly under the Palisades Pack we also have. Our dog had a perfect winterhike in Switserland!

Fits great, keeps the puppy warm

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Finding a coat to fit a male Great Dane is rather challenging. Charlie's Cloud Chaser fits him very well - even around his upper legs, which are much broader than most dogs, and it comfortably covers his big chest. The coat is admittedly a little short lengthwise on him, but that's a very minor quibble given how much happier he is with it on. Instead of quick sprints out to pee (no undercoat = cold dog), we take long rambles in the snow. Definitely recommended

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I was worried about the arms and the fit because a lot of jackets we have looked at don't fit across her chest and she ends up walking weird. I was pleasantly surprised that it fits her so well AND the arms do not bother her a bit. I wish it were a little warmer but it being waterproof has made it ideal for snow hikes and rain.

Good product mabey too tight on legs

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

The jacket fits great with the exception of mabey the front legs (here it rubs a bit.) I will probabally end up modifying this. Also the front fabric could be a little tuffer as she goes bounding through all sorts of obsticales and I am not sure how long the life of this jacket will be. All in all a great jacket. I use it in combo with the fleece coat; but with her short fur she still could use extra insulation when we stop. Though, she does not mind the jackets at all. I am sure she appreciates them and is more comfy on our hikes.

Fantastic!!!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We bought these coats for our two over-the-top Border Collie puppies who are six walk a day dogs. They adore their coats which keep them cleaner, warmer and dryer than any other coat we've tried. The zipper is a little fussy at first but manageable. The coats are easy to wash and hang dry over our radiators in a snap. Some hair accumulates but can be collected in a dryer or picked off. I've never had a problem with static. The fit is perfect for our athletic runners and make them easy to find in the woods (we have red and blue coats.) Some people make fun of us for having our dogs in coats but it helps us manage our dogs a lot better; let them eat cake!

I bought this for my 2 year old dog because he has such a thin coat of hair that I wanted to make sure he had something to give him some extra warmth on our extended hiking and snowshoeing excursions. It doesn't get too cold here in California, but I am a worry wart so I bought the Cloud Chasers for my two dogs. They love them. The jackets are super soft and comfy. They can still run around and have fun all while staying dry and warm. My guys hated the rain but since most of their bodies are staying dry with the jackets on they now have fun playing in the rain.

I bought Hank a red Cloudchaser a couple years ago and it still looks nearly new despite many washings. I did have to shorten and widen the arms and neck but Hank's girth was between M/L and I chose the M. There's a small hole (barbed wire) in the stretchy gray material that has been there about a year but it's holding up fine. This is an extremely durable, high quality jacket with sleek styling. No problem with static buildup either. That's a biggie with Hank.

Pretty good

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

So, first off, my husband and I love how this coat fits our little girl. It is form-fitting in the right areas while still allowing for maximum movement and flexibility. It is unlike any doggie coat that we have ever seen, and everyone we meet at the dog run and our favorite off-leash area ask where they can get one too. However, our little girl has developed somewhat of an aversion to it because of the static electricity that it produces. The inside of the coat is covered with her fur, and using a lint roller or tape to remove doesn't really help. The instructions say not to put it in the dryer, so we can't rely on the lint trap to remove any fur, so we are not sure what to do now. We can still put the coat on her, but she shies away from it, and once it is on, she rubs on every surface she can reach to get rid of the static electricity. If anyone has an idea of how to resolve this, I would love to hear it because we really love this coat.

Very good

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This is a good quality coat. Bought an XS for my terrier-ish puppy, who loves to chew everything. She's chewed on the one spot she can get a hold of for weeks, and not so much as a thread is out of place. This thing is durable. Also, it looks great, and keeps her warm enough to stay out in the cold for a while. A tip: the zipper is tough to get started, especially with a squirmy puppy - keep the zipper together and locked, and slip the thing over your pup's head, then help him wiggle his front legs into the sleeves. MUCH easier than trying to work on the zipper every time! Also, both the XS and XXS would have fit according to the sizing guide. I bought the next size up, and though it's a little loose in the openings, it fits well, and I think my pup will grow into it.

We have a 90lb Chessie. She loves to wear her Cloud Chaser jacket either alone or layered under her K-9 Overcoat. We have had our outfit for a little over a year now. I like coat--EXCEPT!

Would you recommend this product?.: No

Overall a good quality coat. Like the way it fits my Dobie. Has great full belly coverage. She is very athletic and loves to run and jump and the coat moves with her. No problem with the zipper like I read in some of the reviews. BUT-- I have used it several times now and I noticed where the leg openings touch my girl it has rubbed the fur right off and started irritating the skin. Now I hesitate in using it . They should change the design to where it cuts around the armpit more and not down the leg. Like I said its been used several times so I'm sure it cannot be returned for a refund. I just won't use it when we plan on doing alot of play in the cold.

Would not recommend for a highly active dog. Within the first hour of a snowy hike my GSP received bloody wounds from this poorly designed jacket. Great Jacket! Nice fit!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Got this jacket for when the temperature is in the 30's, and on the Oregon coast there is a lot of wind and moisture. It works great! Keeps him dry, warm, comfortable, and is a excellent fit for a active dog. Purchased the jacket when he was still a puppy, and had to make a adjustment (used the Buttoneer) to pull back, and fasten the fabric, so it would not cover/ interfere with his winky. Also had a problem with the zipper coming undone, until I figured out that it needs to be locked (by making sure that the pull lies flat). Now that he is full grown, 25lbs. and has a 23 inch chest, the winky problem is resolved, the jacket is a tighter fit, but still works well. Ruff Wear makes excellent quality products, a lot of thought goes into the design, and worth the extra money.

Great Jacket

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I bought my dog's Cloud Chaser last year and love it! Petey has very short fur and a smooth belly, so it's good to have a jacket that covers him completely. The only problem is that it's slightly too long on the underside so I have to tuck it a little so it doesn't cover his junk. Aside from that small problem, the fit is perfect.

I adopted my dog a year ago and love him to death. The only downside was that he has very short fur and almost none on his belly. A problem for a winter lover like myself! Until I bought him the Cloud Chaser. I love that it fits snug, and unlike most other coats out there-it covers his belly! It's a great layer for mid-20's day. I bought the Climate Changer also to layer underneath for colder days and to wear at night camping. Both products have opened up more oportunities for my dog and I to recreate together comfortably!!

Get the right fit and it is perfect. It's been very cold and snowy this winter and I have warmer and dryer dogs. Only issue I have w/the jacket is static electricity on these extreme dry air days. The dogs do not like getting static shocks (& neither do I) when they come in from outside and have the jacket removed--the fabric crackles w/static when it is pulled off them and has made them not want to suit up next time. Maybe because we heat by woodstove & that makes the air extremely dry...whatever--I've managed to get them back in the jackets and that is what counts.

good but lacking some durability

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This jacket is often used in combination with the K-9 overcoat on really cold early morning runs or backcountry skiing. Over all fit is good but the front leg holes are pulled somewhat when fit to my dog. The fleece is seeing some significant wear due to the K9 Overcoat rubbing on the Chaser chest. Due to snow crystalsa and the seam is blowing out already on the leg holes. Only had the chaser jacket two months. The jacket has great coverage protection but could use a few improvements to make it a essential piece for short-haired dogs. I suggest a stretch strip of materials down the chest from the neck, maybe an abrasion patch or two and reinforced stitching in the legs.

Great design,

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Outstanding use of technical materials for trail dogs. Provides a bit of warmth on cold mountain days, while also giving a good level of weather protection. The softshell materials shed rain and snow, and allows excellent range of motion. Perfect for active outdoors dogs. If pure warmth is your goal – for instance, staying warm in the yard or the kennel while waiting at home for the humans to return from work – go for the higher insulation value in the Climate Changer, which is another GREAT product.

I bought this and the fleece jacket for my dog since she goes to doggie daycare while I'm at work and they're outside for most of the day. It's a great jacket, especially on cold rainy days. Okay, I need help! My pup is 26 lbs and his chest measures 22 inches. He HATES the cold almost as much as he hates jackets, but with temps ranging in the teens here he is shivering after a 5 min walk. I got the XS per the sizing guide and while it does stretch he looks like a sausage. I can put both hands on his belly and back with no problem so I know the stretch is there but I'm worried about the legs. Do the leg openings get any bigger as you increase the size or will I have to have it altered?

We have been having a brutal winter so far this year, and the Cloud Chaser has been a great product for the snow, cold, and rain. My dog doesn't have a problem when we go out in zero or sub zero weather, or rain. You just need to remember to "lock" the zipper up toward the collar and everything is fine. I bought two of them to rotate when it rains. This is a great little coat!

After several years of less expensive doggy jackets that just didn't cut it (and were necessary for long hikes during cold Wisconsin winters), we finally bit the bullet and purchased Cloud Chasers for our 9 lb Papillon (xs) and 90 lb hound/lab mix. Overall, I am very pleased with the results. They are nice and snug and don't make the dogs look too foo-fooish (even the papillon). My only concerns are that our male Papillon's "parts" fit right outside the undercarriage and he does get some urine on the jacket. Also - it astounds me that the xl and the xs were the same price, since there is approximately 1/10 the amount of fabric in the latter.

My dog pees all over himself :(

Would you recommend this product?.: No

My dog, Cooper, wears an extra small, which seems to fit him perfectly. The problem is that every time he wears his jacket, the whole bottom part is soaked with pee. His parts are just outside where the jacket ends on his undercarriage, but somehow he still pees all over himself. We've tried a few things, but always end up with the same result. I would recommend this jacket, but NOT for a Parsons Russell Terrier. The jacket is expensive, especially if you're going to have to spend more money on alterations, which is what customer service recommended to me.

great idea, but needs some work around legs

Would you recommend this product?.: No

loved the jacket, but has one major problem with the fit. after using this in a 3 mile run, i noticed redness around the legs where the jacket touches the leg. i thought it might be an issue with the size, so i ordered a larger size, but still had the same issue. i love the idea of this jacket, but until they address, will not put it on my dobie. please fix, as i love your products

What a GREAT coat!!!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I have had one of the Overcoats for my Plott for a couple years and it has served him well. However, my little dog, Maggie, seemed to always get cold when just wearing her Overcoat. I take my dogs with me everywhere and one of our favorite things to do in the winter is snowshoe. Sometimes the dogs and I are out exploring the woods and trails for over 3 hours and it is important that they both be warm enough. I just received the Cloud Chaser coat for Maggie yesterday and we have already used it on 2 hikes. She is so warm with it on... no more shivering! :) I have not had any issue with the zipper and this is a dog that is not easy on her clothing. She races through thick brush and over logs rather than stick to my trail. :) I got her an XS (the same size as her Webmaster harness) and it seems to fit her really well. It is a tad tough to get it on and the leg openings may need to be altered so they are not quite as tight, but she is able to run and play with no problem. I think I will eventually invest in a Cloud Chaser coat for Oliver my Plott too.

Love it

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This is the best jacket we have found for our Vizsla. Not foofy, very practical. It is stream lined, warm, and dry. No problems with the zipper, if you lock it properly. Highly recomend for any lean short hair dog. We even layer a thin fleece sweater under it on really cold days.

Good product except..

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We love this coat for its functionality. It definitely is a warm and dry coat. However, they need an XXL size. We bought the XL last year for our female Great Dane. I had to cut the trim around the leg opening in order to get it high enough up on her legs. After that it worked beautifully. Unfortunately, this year she's grown a litle more and its a struggle to get it zipped around her and she appears uncomfortable. She's a good sized female, but still much smaller than a male Dane (not nearly as thick). So this product is not great for Danes or any other giant breed.

Awesome!!!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This is a great jacket! All the reviews on "faulty" zippers are a little lame- the jacket has to be locked for it to stay, then no issues! We train hard, sometimes all day, for search and rescue, so good fit and warmth are important. This is a great product, and when paired with the lab coat, unbeatable protection.

Great Coat!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I love this coat! I wish it was a better fit for my large, lean dog's body-type, but aside from that it has everything. The one I have has held up through a year+ of really hard use and continues to last. I have never had a problem with the zipper unless I failed to take the time to seat it properly and lock it, which only happened once when I first got the coat. It stays on even in heavy brush. I like that in addition to keeping the dog warm and dry, it really moves with him too.

We have 2 cloud chasers that we just got this week. We road tested them with our first snow storm and rain by the buckets- my girls stayed perfectly dry and nice and warm. No problem with the zippers and the dried dirt brushed right off. These are great coats!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Bought 2 of them to try-out. At first I thought they seemed a little thin-until I used them. My dogs were perfectly warm and dry in snow, rain, and mud. The dried dirt just brushed-off and I love having the full-zipped-up coat vs. the usual turnout coats for dogs. No zipper problems!

We lost two of the Cloud Chaser jackets so far due to faluty zipper coming undone. We tried zipping it towards the collar but it still came off on Mt Tallac in deep snow. I will maybe get another but have it ALTERED on the zipper with a velcro piece! great jacket but bum zipper

Make sure to lock the zipper!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I posted the first review "AWESOME but..." and just received my replacement cloud chaser after my dog lost the first one in the woods cause the zipper came undone. The Ruffwear Service Team explained to me that the jacket has a locking zipper (no mention of it on the tag). With the zipper locked the jacket staid in place nicely today and did not come undone. If you are having problems with the cloud chaser coming unzipped, make sure you flip the zipper toward the dog's collar when zipped up. It locks the zipper in place. Happy Trails!

Best Idea

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I bought this jacket to help my dog recover from the cold swims in the winter (he is a lab, what do you expect) We went with a size that was at the high end of the sizing and love the snug fit on him. He also wears a harness (as a service dog) and he look great with the two together. It is nice after going out for a walk in 8 degree weather and when you take the jacket off, his body is moderate temp and not shaking and frozen. Great Product

My dog would rather be outside period. If it's snowing, raining, whatever. He'll shiver his little butt off but never wants to go in. Found these online and just had to have one. CJ just loves it and it keeps him nice and toasty warm. Before we go out I say "let's get your coat on." and he runs to the closet! Haven't had any problems with the zipper like some in previous posts and CJ has been at a full stretch run (oh who am I kidding, that's all he ever does). Would recommend this coat to anyone!

haven't had grief with either zipper (have two coats of the previous generation), also had sucess with sewing up a couple of tears - can't believe how well they work (peel them off soaking wet/heavy and find toasty-dry and happy dogs underneath), only problem is that they take too long to dripdry - ordering two more so the afternoon walks will be covered (can rain for days out here)

GREAT!

Keeps Jack warm in the snow when he'd otherwise be shivering. Fits perfectly. After wearing it for two years no issues of coming unzipped that were mentioned previously. Gets lots of compliments and smiles from everyone on the street too! Makes obtaining entry into fancy restaurants and hotels easier than if we go in naked.

I take my dog with me everywhere. I especially love to take him skiing with me. We go up to Mt. Hood all the time and skin up in the wind and snow. There are times when he has been so cold and covered in rime that we had to turn around. After buying this product he's been able to go longer and seem so much happier. It's relatively easy to put on and off and I have not had any of the zipper problems the other reviewers have mentioned. I've had the product 2 years and recommend it to all my friends. I think it's one of the better ruffwear products actually. Hope this helps.

I was about to send a complaint when I read previous review. I have exactly the same problem. The zip comes undone under zero tension. You obviously didn`t bother to send zips to your factory in Vietnam and let them resource locally a basic mistake that anyone making ofshore should know. a good product let down by lack of care.

AWESOME, but...

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This Jacket is exactly what our short-coated Doberman/Weimeraner mix needs for snowshoeing and back country skiing in the winter. Fit well, kept him warm and kept moisture away from him. The only problem was that the zipper came undone when he ran in it which unfortunately resulted in him loosing the jacket in the woods the first time we took him out in it. I'll replace the jacket that's how good it is, however I'll sow in some velcro or a snap at the end of the zipper right away. Maybe Ruff Wear could take this as a suggestion for the jacket's design.
