Lightweight and Packable

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We do a lot of backcountry camping and canoeing with our 100Lb Bernese mountain dog. This pack fits perfectly in the Palisades pack with minimal weight, or can be attached to the outside of the pack easily with a carabiner. I would agree that it is a little on the small size it only fits about 1/2 of his body, not ideal but still a comfort after a hard day. And well it kept most of him off my sleeping bag. We did find that it got quite damp and stayed wet during longer wet camping trips. The tabs on the side where you can stake down the bed were really great to help air it out during the day. That said it a big hairy dog, it stayed quite clean. I would definitely recommend this bed for those concerned with size and weight. Perfect for dry conditions.

Lightweight but too small

Would you recommend this product?.: No

One size doesn't fit all. We have two Seppala huskies (55 lbs each). Neither even slept halfway on the bed because it was so lightweight and thin, they didn't even realize it was there. They slept on top of me and my husband in our tent. For a smaller dog, it would probably work better. It was light enough to have them carry it on our backpacking trip, but it was pointless in even carrying the thing.

Great for backpacking

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My lab and I just returned from a short 3 day backpacking trip and the Highlands was perfect for hanging out at camp. My dog seemed to love having a dry spot to lay, and I loved not having to clean her off before heading inside the tent. I strapped the bed onto the top of the Palisades pack and the dog carried with with her the entire trip. Another great product for Fido friendly backpacking.

Very nice

Although we haven't taken it camping yet, Millie already loves her Highlands bed. We have it in our office and it's great because it is small by plenty comfortable and easy to clean. Look forward to take it camping.

great product

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I would love to see this mated with a something like a therma rest bottom. Maybe the therma rest slides into a pouch on the bottom so you don't have to use it all the time. This would be great all year but esp. for snow camping. I don't think a product like that exists. I'd buy the first one I saw. Or maybe if you use this idea you'd just send me a couple;)

Good for Backpacking

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We took this with us on our last week-long canoe trip to Algonquin. It really pulled the moisture away from our Aussie. Packs down perfectly and is lightweight. The stake out points on this help hold it to the ground well too. My only complaint is that it doesn't dry the quickest, but I was impressed with the product nonetheless.

light, great for warm or mild weather

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Lightweight, packs up small, and my dog definitely prefers it to laying on the bare ground when we're out in the wilderness for extended times. It's a little small for him - perhaps Ruffwear could consider making a larger size available. It's also too thin for cold weather use, so we have to bring extra insulation and a sleeping bag (also things I'd love to see from Ruffwear!) as soon as fall comes around. Great for average use in mild conditions though!

Perfect

I wanted a light weight and compact mat for my dog for day hikes (poodles object to lying on the bare ground). This bed is perfect in this respect and so well made. My pooch thinks it is super comfortable.

super packable and easy to clean

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We took our 'princess' backpacking; she won't carry a pack but loved the bed. She used it both in the vestibule at night and around camp to stay out of the dirt. She knows the bed is her "place". The bed is easy to carry and cleaned up great after the trip.

Great take-along bed, not just for camping

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We bought this for her to carry in her Palisades Pack while up at the cabin. Super light, easy to pack back up, and helped keep her cleaner than laying on the ground all the time. It really helped to keep her out of the way, because she knew where to lay.
We've started taking it with us to classes for this purpose.

Our Dogs love this bed. It fits in their palasades pack well with room to spare. Same material as our sleeping bag and fits easily into its compression sack.

Very convenient

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Our dog enjoys this bed. It fits her perfectly. (She is about 45 pounds.) It's also very convenient to put in her pack and take with us. It also fits great under the garage portion of our 2 person ultra-light tent, where our dog stays with us.

Just got back from a 2 week backpacking trip in the Canyonlands and Piper carried this bed in his backpack- fit perfectly and he was thrilled to sleep on it each night. It is lightweight and comfy for them! Great product
