Fantastic, if a little tricky to pick up.

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Luna loves the Hovercraft. Current favorite fetch toy by far! It's especially fun to throw long rollers that bounce along the ground until she can intercept them! I haven't used the old soft design discussed elsewhere in the comments, but this seems like a decent compromise between a rigid plastic Frisbee that can be uncomfortable for the dog to pick up or carry and the floppy fabric versions that might work fine indoors but don't soar like a Frisbee ought to. I have a decent forehand, and while it doesn't go quite as far as my Discraft, and definitely not as far as my disc golf drivers, I can get it about 200 feet. It's not one of those floppy indoor "Frisbees"! Luna can run her sweet heart out chasing it across the park. She is a little goofy sometimes, and struggles to pick it up if it lands on concrete or smooth ground where she can't push it and get an edge up. Pawing at it can make it dirty, but a quick scrub in the sink with some laundry soap brought it back to tolerable cleanliness.

My canine companion(s): Blue Heeler

The best damn purchase I've ever made.

Would you recommend this product?.: No

After discovering Ned's love for frisbees, and many, many purchases of different frisbee brands (cheap ones, Kong ones, Chuk-it ones, ones made out of recycled tractor tire) I was starting to think there wasn't a frisbee that could stand up to not-so-soft mouth of a Heeler. He managed to puncture his Kong frisbee and brought it back to me dangling off his canine tooth...after it's FIRST throw. The other soft ones didn't last long either b/c of his need to fold them like a taco when he picks them up, and the plastic ones were shredding his gums. So, after lots of online shopping I discovered the miraculous brand that is Ruffwear (whose products are conveniently Blue Heeler tested) and so far, it's been a year and that first frisbee is still holding up impressivley...although a little bit dirty. :)

Great

While we were disappointed that the original lighter-weight Hover Craft was discontinued, our Corgi is now used to the smaller (heavier) model. She loves it more than anything...food, family, even treats!!!

great fying and durable

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We have been very happy with the Hover Craft. The puppies love this and are always trying to bring it back together after catching it. It has held up very well since they seem to play tug of war with it as well. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a frisbee for the dogs.

Well built but old design is better

Would you recommend this product?.: No

The old all cloth (ballistic nylon) is a far better design. The new foam core ads weight and rigidity. Flies far and fast, but too far and fast to be catchable. Old light cloth design allowed for slow floaters that dog can jump up and catch mid-air. Go back to the old aerodynamically superior lightweight all cloth design.

Like it but prefer previous design

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This newer design is fine. We prefer (including Allie) the previous design. When we ask Allie to get the Frisbee, she always finds the previous design and brings us that one rather than this newer design. Previous design flies better, is of a lighter weight, the edge is not so thick, and not as bulky and hard. Please bring back the previous design as another option for those of us who liked that design. If we never owned the previous design, I would say this design was fine and fun to play with.

Three weeks ago i got a new one at my local store(REI) However, i ended up taking it back because it would fly. I really like the previous one i got back in 2013. I would recommend if they bring back the previous design that works pretty well. The new design is not good.

Amazing!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Scout is 6 years old now and we have bought her every insane squeaky toy on the planet, I think. It is her mission to kill whatever it is and skin it! Such a beast! And then, outta the blue one day we found a frisbee and wondered, hmm... I wonder what she would do with this? Well...about the same as the others. Find and destroy! A blind friend of ours has a seeing eye dog with a ruffwear Frisbee and he's viscous with that thing, but it can handle an aggressive dog! I don't think we have to replace this toy in a very long time! We would highly recommend buy this item from Ruffwear!

LOVE IT!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This is Tucker's FAVORITE TOY...we have tried other Frisbees and nothing compares. He gets one a year for his birthday and they last that long. He uses it every single day. It's the first toy he picks up every time we get home and it is what he starts his day with. We have a small one and a large one. EXCELLENT for this playful boxer.

My canine companion(s): German Shepherd & Black Lab

Love it! But...

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I have gone through four of these discs in two months. They last for about 2 weeks with about 20 minutes of play on most days. We don't allow Lucy to chew on it, just catch and return. I know when it's time to get a new one when the inner black rubber is shredded and it flies like a wet shoe. Looking at the reviews it appears that I'm in the minority so maybe I'm doing something wrong. At any rate, I will continue buying them until I can find something more durable.

Not great.

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Overall, for my dog it's fine. The previous design had better flight and better distance. The new one works ok, a little floppy, flight is not great, but for a cut-n-sew product and for a dog, it's fine. I used this as a tool to teach my girls how to throw a disc correctly. they loved it. Now they're older, but we still throw this disc from time to time.

Disappointed

Would you recommend this product?.: No

The original design was far better. Our boxer still plays with her old one even though it is starting to become a little tattered. The new design does not fly straight. Its too heavy, and she has a hard time getting her chops around the thicker edge to catch it in the air. Ruffwear Please please bring back the original (Green/blue) version of this toy! It was awesome and we would buy a dozen of them! The original gets 5 stars for sure.... this version I don't even want to give one star.

New design limits flight

Would you recommend this product?.: No

While the workmanship and quality are still there, the new design is too overbuilt at the edge, limiting flight and accuracy. The old design was far better for both throwing, and its narrower edge was also much friendlier for my BCs to catch. It's too bad the designers seemed to tweak the design towards a ruffer toy instead if the excellent flying disc that it was.

OK

Would you recommend this product?.: No

Discouraged that the company discontinued the original product. Cody still goes for the old one's (we have had three) Is there any way to bring it back? I've bought every imaginable dog Frisbee out there, and the old yellow/green version was by far the best. I used to recommend the old version highly, as Cody's aerial antics grab attention, but now I'm off to search for another product that flies like the original

Good, but ....

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This Hover Craft version may fly better in high winds and be more durable, although originals have lasted for years. We have the original soft versions (small and large sizes, multiple colors) that are lighter, significantly more flexible and tend to fly better ... definitely easier for pups to catch. I would rate the originals a 5 (& would absolutely order new ones if available) and this version a 3.

My dog's nickname is "the destroyer". This toy is durable (thank heavens!) and can withstand his "killing it". I'm not the best Frisbee thrower so don't really know the difference from that standpoint, but it works well for me! It has good distance and I can throw it fairly straight so I'm impressed.

Updated design ruined great product

Would you recommend this product?.: No

I've tested literally EVERY dog frisbee out there. I wanted one that was soft and safe for my dog's teeth (no hard plastic) but that also flew well -- a tough combination. The previous Hover Craft was perfect. Great flight characteristics; it was rigid and flew much better than the floppy fabric discs. At the same time, it was both very durable and soft. The new red design is slightly larger than the previous model and much heavier. As a result, the flight characteristics have changed. It doesn't float or hover as well, requiring you to throw it harder and higher, as it tends to drop off at the end of its flight. Very disappointed. Please let me know how I can buy out your remaining inventory of the old greenish yellow Hover Crafts!
