Hover Craft™
long distance flying disc
 3 (based on 19 reviews) | Write a Review
For high-flying fun, the Hover Craft flies far and long. The durable fabric is designed to last, while the soft construction is gentle on a dog's mouth. Good for water-fetching fun too...it floats!

The large disc is regulation size, while the small disc is ideal for smaller breeds and indoor play.

Please note:  All Ruffwear toys are interactive and intended for supervised play. They are not designed to be chew toys. Once the interactive play has finished, place the Ruffwear toy out of your dog's reach and replace with a designated chew toy.

Not great.

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Overall, for my dog it's fine. The previous design had better flight and better distance. The new one works ok, a little floppy, flight is not great, but for a cut-n-sew product and for a dog, it's fine. I used this as a tool to teach my girls how to throw a disc correctly. they loved it. Now they're older, but we still throw this disc from time to time.

Very good

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Great and durable; sadly Beau splashes himself in the face when he picks it up and it is upside-down, causing him to choke on water. But that is nothing against the product. Great buy!

Im impressed

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This is a great toy for any season! It is very durable and cleans up nicely. I use it almost everyday with my pack of 6 or so dogs and they love it. It does get a bit heavy after playing in the snow and dog slobber but still performs.

My canine companion(s): Boxer

Disappointed

Would you recommend this product?.: No

The original design was far better. Our boxer still plays with her old one even though it is starting to become a little tattered. The new design does not fly straight. Its too heavy, and she has a hard time getting her chops around the thicker edge to catch it in the air. Ruffwear Please please bring back the original (Green/blue) version of this toy! It was awesome and we would buy a dozen of them! The original gets 5 stars for sure.... this version I don't even want to give one star.

New design limits flight

Would you recommend this product?.: No

While the workmanship and quality are still there, the new design is too overbuilt at the edge, limiting flight and accuracy. The old design was far better for both throwing, and its narrower edge was also much friendlier for my BCs to catch. It's too bad the designers seemed to tweak the design towards a ruffer toy instead if the excellent flying disc that it was.

Disappointed

Would you recommend this product?.: No

The flight is poor due to its heavy construction and it only lasted 6 weeks of punishment before it gave up the ghost. I have cheap $5 grocery store softies that hold up better.

Great

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I have the blue green one and yes it is easier to throw. This one requires a more level flight throw technique. But, I too have owned at least a dozen discs and this type is still the best, softer to the mouth, good color, floats!

My canine companion(s): Queensland Blue Heeler

OK

Would you recommend this product?.: No

Discouraged that the company discontinued the original product. Cody still goes for the old one's (we have had three) Is there any way to bring it back? I've bought every imaginable dog Frisbee out there, and the old yellow/green version was by far the best. I used to recommend the old version highly, as Cody's aerial antics grab attention, but now I'm off to search for another product that flies like the original

durable, overpriced

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I have an old green hover craft that seems to fly better. It the new one to heavy? Funny thing, my husband and I both bought one without knowing the other had also. Lucky dog, she now has 2 new ones and 1 old one, so everybody can keep one in their car.

Not really impressed, and neither is Bentley

Would you recommend this product?.: No

Prefer the soft version. Flies better and easier to catch. Bentley still picks the old worn yellow soft one over everything else available,

Good, but ....

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This Hover Craft version may fly better in high winds and be more durable, although originals have lasted for years. We have the original soft versions (small and large sizes, multiple colors) that are lighter, significantly more flexible and tend to fly better ... definitely easier for pups to catch. I would rate the originals a 5 (& would absolutely order new ones if available) and this version a 3.

Tao loves to chew and tear apart his toys; with this toy, he can chew and it holds up, keeps its shape. It also floats in the pool making it a fun retrieval toy

LOVE IT!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My dog's nickname is "the destroyer". This toy is durable (thank heavens!) and can withstand his "killing it". I'm not the best Frisbee thrower so don't really know the difference from that standpoint, but it works well for me! It has good distance and I can throw it fairly straight so I'm impressed.

Apollo loves to fetch in water and this is one of his faves, Love the bright red color that is easily visible. He also loves to play Frisbee on land; however, he was not impressed with the regular hard plastic ones. The HoverCraft is soft and he definitely approves.

Still the best but a few steps backward w/ new Design

I have to agee with Argos that the older design flew much better, however, I am able to make do. Despite this setback, this is the most durable dog disk I've found yet.

Updated design ruined great product

Would you recommend this product?.: No

I've tested literally EVERY dog frisbee out there. I wanted one that was soft and safe for my dog's teeth (no hard plastic) but that also flew well -- a tough combination. The previous Hover Craft was perfect. Great flight characteristics; it was rigid and flew much better than the floppy fabric discs. At the same time, it was both very durable and soft. The new red design is slightly larger than the previous model and much heavier. As a result, the flight characteristics have changed. It doesn't float or hover as well, requiring you to throw it harder and higher, as it tends to drop off at the end of its flight. Very disappointed. Please let me know how I can buy out your remaining inventory of the old greenish yellow Hover Crafts!
