Knot-a-Just™ Collar
adjustable rope collar
DESCRIPTION

Inspired by climbing rope, this collar is strong, comfortable, and dependable.

It works particularly well for dogs that have thick, bushy fur because its low profile allows the collar to settle comfortably in thick fur.

One unique and convenient feature standard on all Ruff Wear collars: a separate mini D-ring ID attachment to separate tags from the leash for less annoying rattle.

Available in four colors that coordinate with our Knot-A-Leash™.

KEY FEATURES
  • Rugged, strong 10-millimeter rope with reflective strands woven in for high visibility
  • Weinerlock™ buckle—made specifically for dog collars—is curved to fit a dog’s neck
  • Welded stainless-steel O-ring leash attachment for a secure connection
  • Separate split ring for important ID tags
  • Rope settles into fur for a cozy, streamlined fit
INTENDED USE

For dogs with thicker fur or any dog who likes the look of this reflective, climbing-inspired rope collar.

Love it!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I love these collars. In the past I had always used rolled leather collars for my dogs, because the flat ones don't nestle into their big furry necks very well, and they break off the hair too. But my dog daycare requires a break-away plastic clip instead of a buckle, so I went in search of a rolled collar with the break-away clip, and this is the only thing close to it, anywhere. These collars are plenty sturdy - we've used the same one for about 3 years now, but they DO stretch out, and also just "re-adjust" quite frequently. I am going to sew mine into the correct size so that it can't keep growing. But, like I said, it's the only "non-flat" collar I can find with the break-away design, so I still love it even with it's imperfections. DO NOT use with a dog who is tethered and may charge to the end of the tether - the collar will definitely break. But is sturdy enough for normal use, even with a 60 lb. dog who pulls on the leash and goes for an occasional squirrel during walks.

Ehhhhh....

Would you recommend this product?.: No

I was expecting so much more from this collar! The round rope material doesn't go all the way around the collar so the look is off and for being called "ruff wear" it didn't stand up to the challenge of the outdoors.

ALL SHOW, NO GO!

Would you recommend this product?.: No

If you like the aesthetics of climbing rope material, then you will like this collar. But if you actually want any sort of functionality, this product is a big waste of money. The plastic buckle is flimsy and way smaller than the cheaper Hoopie collar. The sizing is also extremely off. I bought the same sizing as my Hoopie Collar L (19-29in), and for some reason this Knot-A-Collar XL (19-26in) is way too big. Even at the smallest setting I can literally pull the collar off my dog's neck. Also, the rope on the collar is super thin and weak looking.. Don't let the picture fool you. For the mean time, I'm only using this collar as a non-functional decoration for my dog's neck.

great collar

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

our dog red was 8 months old when we purchased his collar. He was right at the cusp between a large or an extra large. We purchased the large which just fits, I really wish we had bought the bigger size.
I love the way it fits on him. It seems very comfortable and sits on his neck & in his fur nicely. It was a great buy!!

Looks good but does not stand up to quality as advertised.

Would you recommend this product?.: No

Poor quality plastic buckle. Got to campsite; tied down my 6 month pup (30lbs) to unload equip... then snap! Plastic buckle broke off; ended up chasing down my pup for the next 5mintues. Desparate, got an ugly $5 collar from Walmart that lasted all weekend.

perfect

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Love this collar! It doesn't break the fur like regular collars. It is like a rolled collar but better. It is adjutable and has a quick clip! Just what I needed. My dog opened a buckle collar as a pup, so I don't trust one to stay on. The quick clip on a round collar was exactly what I was looking for!

good, not great

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This collar is definitely a lot wussier than I expected (thought the rope would be a bit thicker), but I love how low-profile it is. It doesn't permanently restyle my dogs hair like other collars do. I would not trust this collar with a regular leash (even for smaller dogs like my 35-45 pounders), so I bought a Just-a-Cinch leash which works perfectly with it. My girls are off leash most of the time, so the collar is great just for tags, but when they do need to be leashed, my mind can be at peace. One last thing: this collar ran a bit smaller than expected... my dogs wear a small in Ruffwear stuff, but they need a medium in this. Bought one small and one medium... need to return the small. Overall though: happy. Might buy a couple extra so they can change "outfits" every now and again :)

Dog likes it

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Nice and light, dog seems to like it. Reflects well in the dark. First impression was that it was way too light weight but it is made well and doesn't strain the dogs neck like a normal collar.

Does the job I brought it for

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Great for well trained dogs that only need a collar for their ID tags, and when the leash only needs to be used for guidance at times (or so I can turn off my brain cells).
Great for dogs that have earnt the trust to have a collar that is comfortable and easy to wear.
Only not a five star because does loosen over time.
But easy to adjust, so not really a problem.
A collar that is very comfortable for the dogs to wear.

good

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Great second collar for my dogs when they wear their wireless fence collars. I ordered small enough (size large for labs) so that the collar is adjusted to be a big as it can. No slippage. not sure of duribility yet. When walking I use a slip leash so this color will not be attached to a lead. Very comfy for my girls. I am happy.

Poor for a larger dog...

Would you recommend this product?.: No

This product is just not good for a larger dog. I don't attached a leash or anything to the collar except for tags. But on the occassion or two I want to grab my dog by the collar... the collar stetches slights and is not sturdy. The "adjustable" part of the collar is its "weakness." Good idea but not well implemented for a large dog.

not pleased

Would you recommend this product?.: No

We bought this collar to be used with the knot-a-coupler (which works really well) but the collar doesn't stay tight - therefore stretching so much that their heads slip out of it! I have been in love with all of your other products - just need to work on this one...sorry.

Better for a small dog, but Not for large breeds

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I bought this for my long haired bernese. I love other ruffwear gear, but the quality is just not in this collar. I would recommend for a smaller dog. Its just too small and wimpy for a large breed.

Very good

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I ordered 2 leads, collars, and boots for my labs. The boots and leads are fantastic. The collar has a problem with the adjustment and when walking the collars tend to open when any pressure is given. I would suggest a better adjustment clasp. Otherwise this product is fantastic.

great for holding tags

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I love this collar for the sole purpose of holding dog information and ID. I like that it's low profile and lightweight. Of course I would never use this collar as a means of keeping my big Malamutes on a leash and collar. Which is why I also love the super low profile harness that RW makes. I contain my dogs on the harness vs. the collar.

I've replaced this already

Would you recommend this product?.: No

I needed a collar that my dog could wear with her inground fence collar. This collar was a great width, but because she is still on leash at times, the part of the collar that does not have rope inside stretched and as it stretched the size adjustment slipped also. I was adjusting the size on this collar a couple times a day.

Could be much better

Would you recommend this product?.: No

My first impression of this collar, upon holding it, was that it feels really FLIMSY. I'm a 5'3" female, I feel like if I really tried, I could pull the collar apart. So for any dog that tugs at all, I'd be worried about them pulling and the collar ripping in half. Also, as others have noted, the size doesn't keep at all. It's a shame because one of my dogs has a mane that could rival a lion's, and I like the way this collar actually settles into her fur. But that doesn't make up for the poor construction, so I'll be returning this.

Size does not hold its position, as the others mention. BUT we use a cable adjustment to keep it in place, a very little one, not seen nor felt by the dog. and it is perfect. so, please ruffwear, do work on this, as we love the stuff and we have set a trend in Germany (10 sold in 3 days)

I had a leash from many years ago. I bought new leashes and collars for both dogs. I wish I'd read these reviews first. The collar slips size. If the dogs weren't off leash for our walks I'd be concerned about them slipping the collar.

Just what I need

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I got this collar knowing that it is not intended to service as the main collar. I have a choke chain as the primary mean of walking and handling my dog. My dog is service animal and feel that having this collar to have his tags and ID on is a great addition. I have the matching leash and could not ask for better. I love all of Ruff Wear products and will continue to use them for all my animals needs. When you look at price and quality, this is the way to go.

fantastic product. its has a pad in it so my poor dog doesnt choke herself to death while pulling. i havent had any size issues but it does look different than my old ones so maybe they made a change. i actually had a mismade one that i bought and they sent me out a free new one asap. got it in a few days and all i had to do was take a pic of the damaged one. all my dogs now wear these.
