As temperatures soar, dogs become more vulnerable to heat stress, so maintaining a comfortable environment for canines is important. According to the Veterinary Pet Insurance Co. (VPI), a recent analysis of 2005 claims submitted for dogs showed an increase in several ailments during the summer months including heat stroke. The Swamp Cooler vest uses the natural process of evaporative cooling to keep dogs cool in the heat. The cooling vest exchanges the dog’s heat with the coolness of the stored water, and then releases the heat as the water evaporates. The best time to exercise all four legged companions during the summer months is either early in the morning before sunrise or late in the evening after the sun goes down. The cooling vest acts as an outdoor air conditioner so dogs can stay active during daily rituals like hiking or walking to the park.

The top air-mesh layer generates evaporation, which releases heat. The middle layer absorbs and stores the cooling water while the bottom layer cools the dog. “We were in the remote desert canyon country and in the direct sun all day with temperatures in the mid 80’s.
