The Oregon Trail of Dreams Training Camp, a Mt. Bachelor Dog Sled Organization, is home to more than 80 dogs training for the Iditarod Dog Sled Competition. Rain, snow, or shine, these dogs can be seen training on Mt. Bachelor seven days a week, averaging 10 miles per hour. This canine team of athletes will carry up to 600 pounds of gear and people at any given time. It's all in preparation for the Alaskan Iditarod, which requires up to 16 days and 1,150 miles of non-stop mushing.
Jerry Scdoris, who owns and operates the Oregon Trail of Dreams, has been a professional musher for over 30 years, covering over 100,000 dog sled miles with his team of Alaskan Huskies. As noted by Jerry, “We’re the experts on dogs in motion.”
The Oregon Trail of Dreams training camp offers training to beginners and professionals alike. They enjoy the unique nature of the sport and the opportunity to be a part of the pristine beauty of the outdoors.
Located near Ruff Wear’s home in Bend, Oregon, the Oregon Trail of Dreams has been a key contributor in product testing and offering advice for winter canine athletes. Tried and tested, the dogs at the Oregon Trail of Dreams wear the Ruff Wear Cloud Chaser™ and K-9 Overcoat™ when conditions get cold, windy, and wet.
