Built for use in rugged conditions on multi-day backpacking trips when extra carrying capacity is needed.

Balanced assistance handle helps lift dog up and over obstacles
Space-efficient saddlebags with lightweight, streamlined, go-fast shape
Weight-forward saddlebag design for ideal load-carrying position

vast improvements to this pack!
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
I have an older version of this pack that ripped within the first few miles of a trip. This Pack is much more durable than they have been in the past. The detachable bags are essential and the harness is perfect alone, helping your four legged friend up over obstacles couldn't be easier. While I didn't have much use for the hydration bladders, I think I will use them on my forthcoming trip to the desert.Great Pack for Great Dogs!

Great product
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
Terrific design. Used these for an overnight trek in the pemi wilderness. Dogs loved drinking straight from the hydration pack hoses. We loved that the dogs could lug their own food and water. We had some difficulty in properly fitting the harness, and the saddle bags were occasionally off balance. The detachable saddle bags and built-in hydration system more than make up for the harness fitting issues. In time we hope to get the harness fits dialed in for our two Leos! Bags also seem quite durable. Dogs had to squeeze through some narrow passages through rock and cross chest deep streams. Dogs very quickly got used to the packs and always seemed comfortable. Thanks for a great product.

Perfect design and well thought out
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
A+ rating on the Palisades Pack! We have two Greyhounds and each dog has a pack. We did a very strenuous 4 day/night backpacking trip and had to scramble up rock ledges several times. If it was not for the dog packs, the assist handles and awesome construction of the packs, our dogs would not have made the ledges. Not to mention got hurt a few times, possibly some pretty serious injuries. At one point one of the dogs tipped over backwards on the ledge and I had hold of the assist handle. She swung out backwards away from the ledge (as far as my arm goes back and with a 10 foot drop to lower ledge area) and I was able to swing her back onto the ledge, without injury and without the pack breaking or loosening up. The pack held up to the force of a 64 pound dog swinging like someone swinging a heavy bag back and forth. The other dog is 72 pounds and she was lifted numerous times using the assist handle all with ease and no issue. The design and quality of these packs are second to none. Again, if it wasn't for the design and quality of the pack, we would not have been able to do the hike. We had two other brands in the past and both were poor design and did not have assist handles or the strength to do what the Ruffwear packs can. If you hike with a dog, then the Palisades Pack is the best and only way to go! The hydration system is also a huge plus because of scarce water sources on some trails. Last, the ease and security of being able to take the pack portion off and leave on the harness is a priceless feature of the pack. Perfect product.

Features work well. Adjusts great, fits great. Compression straps were awesome. Bladders are a bit hard to fill without spilling but were a nice feature. Now the dog is carrying her own food and water which slows here down just enough when hiking in to a campsite.

We bought this pack mainly for hiking and we love it. Went out for 4th of July and it ended up raining the whole time and the pack was decorated with mudd. Threw it and the harness in the wash and its just like new. We use the harness alone for rollerblading and it works great. Much better quality than other packs we have used and the bladders are super convenient and pretty easy to fill.

This is my dogs second pack. Migo is my service companion and my shadow. Everywhere I go, he is with. I am a college student. Migo is able to carry school essentials for me. Plenty if room on the harness and saddle bags to apply his credentials. Easy on/off when we get to class. Wish the ports on the water bags were a bit larger to make fill-ups easier, and the water bags more streamline with the pack and not as square.

This is a wonderful product with superb features, however, I can't use it on my dog because the read strap chafes his penis. No matter how I adjust the tightness or size, I cannot bear to let my pooch suffer by making him wear this.

I love this pack, and so does the dog. She has a huge chest and the pack still fits very well. I has caused a little rubbing on the inside of her front legs but she has very short hair. I love that you can synch down the pack to make it smaller if your not carrying as much and the water feature is awesome if your in an area where you need it. Love this pack

He fell off a 30ft cliff wearing it with the water bladders full and walked away with only a couple scratches. this pack saved his life! fits him great and he loves wearing it too.

Every where we hike we get comments about the pack and what a great idea a dog backpack is. She carries my keys and cell phone and any snacks we bring. She loves it and I love the fact that I can take off the saddles but keep the harness on which makes it a lot quicker and easier. I love this pack and so does she.

I was looking for a well designed, functional, durable dog pack that looked good on Shumi (my German Shepherd.) I actually bough and quickly returned other packs that did not meet half of my expectations. From the moment I got the Palisades Pack out of the box I felt and notice the excellent quality and attractive designed. Once I stared using it I was amazed to find features that I was not even expecting to get. I like the materials and good craftsmanship use to create this pack. I rate this dog pack “best in Show”

I bought this pack as a vest for my service dog. I love how I can detach the saddlebags for short day trips, and I can attatch the bags on long days or out of town trips. There is plenty of room to attach patches and the harness stays nice and secure! The saddlebags are large enough to carry my dog's supplies and some of my things as well...which is a huge help! The water bladders allow me to be confident that my dog will always have water available. I love this pack!

This back pack is amazing. We use it on our highest energy hikers to make them work harder and wear them down. It's super adjustable so it fits most of our larger dogs, and the water bags add lots of great weight with bonus storage! Plus it makes watering the pack a breeze. This pack gets beat on and bashed against trees from our lesser coordinated dogs, and it hasn't even frayed a little! We love it.

I'm an amateur outdoors photographer and I got this pack so my dog could help me carry camera gear (bad back). The detachable packs are handy and I make use of all of the pockets. My dog gets hot easily and the hydration pockets are ideal for slipping small ice packs in. My dog loves it because he knows anytime he gets it put on, he's in for an adventure!!

Heavy duty, great fit, excellent design
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
This pack can be adjusted to fit like a glove and the front yoke ensures that it doesn't twist on the dog's body, which is the problem I had with our previous pack. I like the fact that the pack can be removed and the harness used by itself. My only complaint is that the pack is quite heavy even without water and other dog accroutements added.

Excellent dog pack! Quality material, great workmanship, and attention to details. It fits my 7-month Alaskan malamute puppy perfectly, the load balances quite well on her, without the pack shifting to either side. The reflective trim is a nice touch, the ease of removing and attaching the pack to the harness makes it a breeze to take the pack off and give my pup a little rest during breaks. Haven't tried using the water bladders, can probably go with or without it. Would definitely recommend it to all my friends, actually posted some rave reviews of it on the dog forums I frequent.

We use these packs not only for our own dogs, but for our adventure dog walking business. We are very hard on them since up to 8 dogs are pushing and shoving each other around on the trail. They also end up in the ocean or river every now and then on accident, and they stand up to it all really well. They also fit all the dogs really well with a minimum of movement on the dog as they walk , run or wrestle. We have tried lots of other packs, and these are so much better than all the rest it's almost ridiculous! Buy one, you won't be dissapointed. The customer service and shipping people are also just fantastic, I can't say enough good things!!

I ALREADY HAD A PACK WHEN A FRIEND OF MINE GOT THIS ONE. AS SOON AS SHE SHOWED IT TO ME, I HAD TO HAVE IT. I LOVE THE FACT THAT YOU CAN LEAVE THE HARNESS ON BUT TAKE THE PACK OFF. WHEN I TAKE A BREAK ON TRAIL MY DOG DESERVES A BREAK TOO. ALOT OF WORK TO TAKE AN OLD PACK OFF AND ON AND READJUST STRAPS. THIS IS ONE I CAN TAKE HER PACK OFF EASILY AND GIVE HER A BREAK. CAN TAKE PACK OFF FOR WATER CROSSINGS BUT LEAVE HARNESS ON. GUESS YOU CAN TELL THAT THIS IS MY FAVORITE FEATURE OF THE PACK. CAN'T WAIT TO GET ON THE TRAILS THIS SPRING AND USE THE NEW PACK.

I ordered this pack online and was impressed once I was able to see it first hand, the materials are of good quality along with the stitching. The design is well thought out and the water bladders have been a great benefit for both hydration and comfort for Jesse. The ability to remove the pack from the harness on the go is very practical, and I have done this on several hikes. The harness is easy to fit to my dog and the handle is an excellent feature, allowing me to help my pooch over obstacles. With reflective trim, gear loops, close tight zippers and many more features, this is a TOP quality dog pack. Good job to the designers.

I like the concealed zippers. Having a working dog, he has to carry a certain percentage of his body weight for hikes. This pack is a little difficult to obtain the correct weight. With a very full pack, the weight can be acheived. I prefer the old bladders to the new. But the pack works well. I like the new harness as the front does not wear like the old one did.

This pack is awesome! My boy is tall and skinny with a deep chest and almost impossible to fit a harness for. Almost. This fits him perfectly. I also love the handle on top to help Graham out of some tough spots on the snowshoe trail. He crashes through brush and thorns and this pack takes it all. Very comfortable for my boy to sit and lie down in. We have an older model and the bladders didn't have the straws attached like they do now. Still, love it and get lots of compliments on it. I've had it about 4 years and it's still going strong.

This pack is great, very well thought out. The Dog loves the hydration system as he likes to drink right from the hose. Also there is plenty of space for food and a toy. And the daisy chain works great to strap his sleeping mat on. The pack fits him well and does not seem to irritate him at all. He seems exuberant to wear the pack and gets very excited now when I even touch the pack when I’m around the house thanks for the great product

I researched many packs before settling on this one, and I've been happy with it so far. Seems rugged enough to hold up to crashing through the woods (which we have tested a few times already). Doesn't shift very much, even though both my dogs are narrow chested. LOVE the ability to remove the majority of the pack easily while leaving the harness on. Water bladders are great, however they seem to be a little cumbersome to use. Just haven't gotten the knack of them yet.

Great dog pack
Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!
Overall the best of many dog packs we've tried. The best feature is how well they fit the dogs. When you're doing multi day back country trips comfort it really important and these are the only packs that haven't given the dogs hot spots. A little over featured for my liking but still the best dog pack out there. Would like to see something more durable on that bottom of the packs since they only seem to last us for about 3 seasons, maybe some plastic 'armor' or spectra would hold up to the Huskies? Until I make my own dog pack these are what we'll use.
