The Palisades™ Pack puts the deepest of the backcountry within reach for you and your canine companion. Our highest-volume pack with a modular design is built for multi-day treks, with molded and perforated EVA foam back and belly panels for exceptional comfort and breathability. The removable saddlebags attach to a breathable, standalone harness with a handle and integrated zippered pockets – ideal for streamlined day trips and side excursions from camp. 

Radial cut, weight-forward saddlebags offer stable and comfortable gear carry, and an internal mesh pocket and external daisy chain system offers flexible organization for your dog's trekking necessities like a sleeping system, food, or hydration. Six points of adjustment provide an optimal fit, three leash attachment points allow for secure leash-canine connections, and reflective trim with an integrated light loop for The Beacon™ help boost visibility in low-light conditions. 

It’s recommended that your dog carry no more than 25% of their body weight, including pack weight and its contents. If your dog is new to dog packs, start with a light load and work up to a heavier load as your dog gets used to wearing the pack.

    Great fit and thoughtfully designed

    After getting my Great Pyrenees mix Atlas well accustomed to his smaller daypack on hikes and several backpacking trips, it was time to upgrade to the Palasides pack with more carrying capacity. So happy the new light blue color came out! He can now carry his sleeping bag, emergency evacuation sling (that we hope we never need), freeze-dried food, and other little items with plenty of room. I don’t ask him to carry more than 10% of his body weight, but having him carry some bulky lightweight items frees up room in my own pack. The harness fits GREAT - we used it on walks without the saddlebags for a while to make sure all the adjustments were perfect before we took it on a trip. I spent time carefully weighing out which items to carry in each saddlebag to make sure everything was even. The saddlebags are a little fiddly to attach when the harness is already on the dog, and same with the flopper stopper snap loops. But that’s mostly because Atlas doesn’t like to stand perfectly still. Once fastened through, the whole setup is very secure and we had zero issues with sliding around, saddlebags shifting to the sides, pressure points, or anything else! Feels like it was custom made just for him. Well done RuffWear!

    Never Disappointed with Ruffwear

    With backpacking season coming up, we needed to get a harness/pack combo for our GSD pup to be able to come out with us. These packs have held up well throughout our dogs years, and this one did not disappoint. Fit our girl very well, she was able to walk freely along the hike part while carrying 3 days of food, her coat to sleep in, and some toys for the lake.

    Durable and Functional

    Very impressed with this harness and pack. Our husky mix wore it for a two-day trip over rocky terrain. She never once showed signs of discomfort. The pack fit securely on the harness and is easy to remove and put back on. The two 1L bladders are great for balancing the load. Our pup is about 40 lbs and wears a small.
