Eligibility information for Ruff Wear's Pro Purchase Program.
The following applicants will be eligible for the Ruff Wear Pro Purchase Program. Please indicate which category you fall under on the Pro Purchase Application Form. Industry Employees:
The applicant must be an employee in any of the Outdoor, Snowsports, Bike, Paddling, Fishing, or Pet industries including outdoor gear retail stores or pet-specific retail store. Search and Rescue (SAR) Personnel:
All active members of Search and Rescue (SAR) organizations that actively use search dogs in their operations are eligible. Working Dog Safety Organizations:
Organizations and agencies that actively use the services of working dogs are eligible. Examples include, but are not limited to, Narcotics Sniffing Dog Units, Explosive Tracking Dog Units, Police K9 Units, and Fire Departments. Ski Patrol/Avalanche Professionals:
The applicant must be a pro patroller or actively participating, volunteer patroller that uses search dogs in their operations. Therapy Dog Organizations:
Groups that use dogs to help treat patients through therapeutic healing are eligible. Animal Assisted Therapy groups and Animal Assisted Activities groups are examples of Therapy Dog Organizations. Service (or Assistance) Dog Organizations:
The applicant must be an employee of organizations that support, train or utilize Guide Dogs, Hearing Dogs and Service Dogs. Examples include hearing dogs who work with the deaf or employees of facilities that train dogs to assist blind partners. Humane Society/Rescue Group Personnel:
Organizations that provide services for abandoned or disadvantaged dogs are eligible. Products are available to full-time, paid employees only. Dog Trainers:
Applicant must be a full-time, professional or certified dog trainer. Trainers must physically interact with their clients on a regular basis. Outdoor Education Programs:
Outdoor education schools and programs that utilize dogs for wilderness safety or search and rescue training and instruction are eligible. Universities that include a teaching hospital are also eligible. Field-Based Government Employee:
Full-time, paid government employees that actively use dogs in their work are eligible. Dogs must be used in field-based research or duties (at least 75% of work occurs in the backcountry). Friends of Ruff Wear:
Any other group or individual that has partnered with Ruff Wear in the past is eligible at Ruff Wear’s discretion. Veterinarians:
The applicant must be employed as a veterinarian (DVM) in a clinic or practice that involves direct contact with clientele. Other employees of the facility without the DVM classification (veterinary technicians, customer service, lab technicians, etc.) are not eligible for this program. Media:
The applicant must be an employee of a newspaper, magazine, television or other media organization that reports/publishes information pertinent to the following categories: Active, Lifestyle and Canine. Please note this program is intended for purchasing gear for personal use. Donation:
The applicant must be a member of a non-profit organization purchasing products for a fundraiser event. Prior permission must be obtained from Ruff Wear to select this category.
