Date of Review: 3/26/2013

We kick up our paws in: Virginia

My canine companion(s): Boxer

Helpful

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Our vet recommended this product after using for his own dog. Caesar has a degenerative spine disease that affects the use of his hind legs. These boots definitely help on the hardwood floors. He does mind the boots being on. Boots are hard to keep on so we added a second velcro strap near top of boot that helps keep the boots on.

worked well, although I should have ordered the size smaller, my mistake.

My canine companion(s): Golden Retriever

Fantastic

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My old girl, Sid will soon be 15 and still loves to go for walks. Unfortunately, she is starting to lose her back legs some and drags her back feet a little when she walks. After one trip around the block she has ground her back claws off. These fixed it. I tried other boots that came off and really seemed to bother her, but she seems to like these and she knows when it is walk time. Its been over a month of walks and they haven't come off once. Worth every penny! A very happy dog and owner.

Needs re-development

Would you recommend this product?.: No

Well constructed but hard to get on - the elastic "cuff" makes it hard to slip a dogs paw in with two hands. You need two hands to open the cuff and then at the same time, put dogs paw in! Also, I found the fit way more boxy then the Grip Tex boots - those are great! Put this bottom on the GripTex stucture and you've got a great boot!

Dog's Name: Sam

Date of Review: 2/24/2013

We kick up our paws in: dallas texas

My canine companion(s): german shepherd

great invention

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My dog Sam has the begining stages of Degenerative Myelopathy and these boots have prevented his back paws from sliping and bleeding. Poor guy he's 100 plus and starting to lose feeling in his back legs. He doesn't mind the boots at all. It's amost like he knows we are trying to help him. My only concern is that the vet said he could possibly develop a fungus invection due to them not being breathable since dogs sweat through their feet. So far he only wears them for long walks and takes them off when he gets home. Eventually his disease will progress and we will have to find another option due to him needing them more often. Another thing is that they are not very durable cause they already have holes from wear after 2 months. Or its just because his nails are too long? Or, he stepped on something sharp cause there is a whole on the bottom. They seem to be the right size? I will still use them them cause they are very effective in preventing his paws from bleeding and I am grateful for that!

Date of Review: 1/16/2013

My canine companion(s): Great Pyrenese

Great for a do with Amputation

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I purchased these for my extra large dog, Louie who has had his front leg amputated. My dog is huge and the boot fit him well. One thing I would suggest is take a look at modifying the size or material of the entrance to the boot. Louie's foot is huge and he has du-claws and the entrance to the boot is a little narrow which is ok if the material stretched a little easier. Overall, your boot is very durable and works well saving his paws on the concrete.

Dog's Name: Teddy

Date of Review: 1/8/2013

We kick up our paws in: New Jersey

My canine companion(s): Frenchie

Good

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Unfortunately, like many Frenchies, Teddy has congential spine malformation and is partially paralyzed in his hind quarters. My vet recommended a Ruff Wear shoe because he slips on tile and wood floors, dragging one leg. The shoe (which is like a miniature climbing shoe and very cute) fits well, and thanks to the advice of customer service I went a size smaller. I only use it inside since he has good traction on cement and grass and also it does eventually come off and I don't want to lose it. Ted seems mildly annoyed to have the Skyliner on but that's because he doesn't understand that he is able to scoot around much better with it on. I think this is a good product that is fairly priced given the amount of work it must take to piece together such a tiny shoe. I am grateful to have found an aid that can help the quality of life of Teddy. PS: If you are thinking of getting a Frenchie remember this story - it is a tragically common one.

This is a very good product that stays on. I work with dogs with mobility issues and if a dog comes in dragging a foot I give a boot to the owner to try. I have had very favorable feedback.

My canine companion(s): Dog with arthritis

WAY too short!

Would you recommend this product?.: No

Our dog has arthritis in his back legs and needs little boots to gain better traction on our wood floors. We have another Ruffwear boot for him but wanted to try the Skyliner since they were more flexible looking. We liked the boot part but the "sleeve" was unbelievably short!! It didn't even cover his paw pads. Crazy! Don't buy this unless you have a miniature dog. Our dog is a Sheltie so he's not even that big (35 pounds).

Dog's Name: Chase

Date of Review: 6/30/2012

We kick up our paws in: Tampa Florida area

My canine companion(s): Chase is a BIG black lab and he's my guide dog.

Very well made and they stay on so well.

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Being a guide dog, Chase is walking the streets quite a bit. The pavement is entirely too hot for his feet, so shoes are a must. I worried about how he'd adjust to them, and I'm told he was quite comical when he first walked around in them. He's figured out that his feet don't get soo hot, and he has more traction on smooth surfaces, so he doesn't seem to mind them too much. I'm glad I read the info about breaking them in before putting them on Chase, and I think that's why he's done so well in them. He's pretty proud of his new shoes, and we'd recommend them to anyone looking for paw protection on hot pavement or sand.

well made

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Although Parkers foot was a litlle bigger than the chart I had no choice to get him the 3.25" one after he cut his foot and needed protection so it could heel. It fit snug and was much better and easier tha socks and tape. Easy to clean under the tap with hot water and drie it on the radiator.

My canine companion(s): Golden

excellent

Would you recommend this product?.: No

He was recently injured and had to have an amputation. I was looking to have a shoe help him on the hard wood floors. Ordered individually to be sized properly but they still come off. I believe the shaft should be taller and it would have been a solution. On a positive note your harness has worked wonderfully for helping him to get up and to do the stairs.

good

the width was fine but the lenght of the bootie it too short, Gigi lost it when walking, so we made a shoe out of bandages, plastic etc., because she cannot go without a shoe on that LEG,it might be good for other dogs.

Dog's Name: Bonus

Date of Review: 2/7/2012

We kick up our paws in: San Francisco

My canine companion(s): Collie

Good

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

These boots are of better quality than others I have seen. Our 9 year old collie had a stroke and would drag his rear paws on the pavement and wear away his nails to the quick causing bleeding. With his boots on, he can walk on pavement without scraping and he has better traction on the wood floors at home. Even though he is 80 lbs his back paws are small, so once we got the right size for his paw, the velcro strap was right over one of his pads. I solved the problem by carefully unstitch ing the straps and sewing them up higher on the ribbing. Now they work great, stay on, and make it possible for him to walk on pavement. The socks make it easier to get the boots on and protect his legs from scraping. Thanks for making single boots available.

Date of Review: 1/21/2012

We kick up our paws in: Pennsylvania

My canine companion(s): Weimaraner

Poor

Would you recommend this product?.: No

Now that we have had a chance to use these I am disappointed. It took a few tries to get the correct size but I had to go bigger than the actual paw size just to have a chance that they would stay on. They seem durable which is what I was going for because on long hikes my dog as burnt holes through other brands, but the velcro strap is not placed high enough that after a few strides off they come. If they only put the strap up higher so it would secure around the smaller part of the dogs leg instead of just at the back of the paw I think they would be perfect.

We kick up our paws in: Glen Ellen California

My canine companion(s): St. Bernard

Excellent

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I purchased these back booties for our hard wood floors as our 182 pound St. Bernard is having a difficult time getting up now that he is getting older. And your company was recommended by a friend. Two complaints: 1) He cannot put them on himself. sigh! Can you send directions a St. Bernard can understand?!?!?! 2) Our family has been rolling on the floor we have been laffing so hard as bootie boy tries to shake them off and then finally high steps around the house when he has them on - of course, an argument could easily be made that this is exercising and keeping his hips young !!! Thank you. PS. The customer service representative I spoke to about size was VERY helpful.................but the XL just fit by a hair!

My canine companion(s): Shep mix & Lab

Nice quality

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Not an option for dogs with Degenerative Myelopathy as it lessens their already poor sense of feeling/proprioception since they can not feel the ground with thier paws. Would have been great to protect further wearing of nails if our beloved dog could have walked in the booties.

My canine companion(s): Golden Retriever mix

Very very good

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My 16-yr-old rubbed his rear footpad raw from constant dragging. The Skyliner boot is the best on the market for paw protection, in my estimation. I love the hard rubber sole in particular. The only thing was the velcro strap hit by his dew claw. I removed the strap and re-attached it to the ribbing where it met the boot. Works like a charm now. Judging from the other reviews, this boot seems to work for older dogs with paw issues. The paws of dogs become more splayed with age, so I'd like to see a boot that not only was fitted for width but also for length. I would gladly pay more for a "custom" boot.

Great!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We bought one boot for our dog's paw. He has a sore spot on his pad that needed to be protected so it could heal. The boot has worked perfectly. The trick is pulling it up as far as possible and wrapping the velcro strap around tightly. It never falls off and doesn't interfere with his walking. His paw pad is able to heal and he is able to continue to go on long walks.

Absolutely Amazed

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I can't say enough. Awesome on laminate and tile, great for hind leg weakness or dragging paws that cause nails to wear down to nothing. Cures bleeding paw pads caused by long walks on asphalt too but wore out quickly. Ordering Grip Trex this time for outdoors. 11 year old is a new dog. Would like to see USPS for shipping though. Would be cheaper and faster than Fed Ex.

I like how these boots have the snug elastic that come up a bit higher than the boot. However, they do run a bit big so I would suggest ordering a size down perhaps. Otherwise, we use these primarily as indoor boots or when our grip-tex boots are in the wash.

Worth the money

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

With my dog originally being from Australia the cold temps and snow have him hopping around this winter. These boots fit perfectly and he rips around like he's chasing a rabbit. The only issue I have with purchasing the single boot is there is no option for USPS, therefore the shipping is about as expensive as one boot.

GREAT

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

We have a huge black dog that kind of looks like a cross b/w a german shepherd and a black lab. We fostered him b/c he had a completely severed right leg. The leg healed and we kept him but his walk changed slightly and when we would take him on long walks his nails would grind down and bleed a lot. Our hikes involved beach. waves, sand, water, rocks and these booties always stay on and they don't seem to bother him at all. This is a great product.

Great

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My little Dachshund loves being outside but hates the rain. Thought these boots would be a perfect solution. The fit was amazing, especially considering how little his feet are. However, after several tries in the house to get him used to them, it was a total fail - he floundered and just hated the boots on his feet, so we returned but not due to anything other than him not liking them.

Love these shoes!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I also bought the Grip Trex which are great too! I mainly used the skyliner indoors on hardwood floor. My boxer girl needed them during her recovery from a spine stoke - she was dragging her back leg. She's doing great now and the shoe was perfect. The skyliner is a little wider so definately more like a bootie. Use socks. And super easy to clean.

Our 10 yr. old dog has "draggy paw syndrome"which made her walks quite difficult. Because of her allergy to grass, we have to stick to the paseos & sidewalks which wore her nails down & caused bleeding. The Skyliner boot is fantastic and has protected her foot very well. She doesn't mind wearing it at all. We are both happy & back to taking our regular walks again!

Good for injuries & hot pavement!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My Boxer recently had two toes on her back foot removed due to cancer. Once her foot was wrapped, we used this as a cover. Worked great to keep her from licking the bandage and allowed her to go for short walks. Now that she has healed up, the boot protects the exposed tissue that is very sensitive... not to mention the full four keep her from dancing across the desert asphalt.

The traction enables her to keep her footing on our hardwood floors. These boots fit our needs perfectly and I would highly recommend them

good

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My Great Dane has to wear shoes on his back feet for all walks. He shuffles his feet and drags them so the shoes are to protect him from having bloody worn down nails and scraped up feet. The shoes fit well. The only problem I have is that they don't last long, but I can't find any shoe that does with the way he drags his feet. He gets holes worn in the bottom really fast. I assume with a dog that walks normally the shoes would last a much longer time. I'm rating the shoes 3 stars just based on how they last for our needs.

My canine companion(s): Greyhounds

Not for greyhounds. Comes right off.

Would you recommend this product?.: No

I can't rate it fairly because greyhounds might be difficult to fit for boots. I can only say that this boot isn't appropriate for greyhound hind legs. It went on easily and velcroed snugly, but came right off.

Not a problem to get on or off and it stays in place nicely. All in all very happy with the boot!
