We enjoy agility and Rally lessons. One class is held in the evenings and one in mid morning. Agility is outdoors, Rally inside. My dog is black, large, and heavy coated, and heat and sun have a significant impact. I do shave her coat in summer to a half inch. The swamp cooler has a much better result when her coat is short. I wet the cooler at home, drain excess water, seal and place it in a large plastic bag and fold and rolll the swamp cooler around frozen plastic ice packs - careful to keep the plastic between the ice packs and the swamp cooler so the jacket doesn't freeze to the packs - and transport to class in a soft side cooler. I live in the Southeast and it is Hot this summer. After our first run we use the swamp cooler to lower her temperature and use a portable fan to initiate a breeze on her body between runs. The swamp jacket is effective at the job when used as described and my dog wears it for the remainder of the class. Once, the building AC For Rally was out and we used the same system indoors. She was the only non-panting canine student.
