Great toy for fetch and tugging games. My mini schnauzer likes this, but the Gourdo is his favorite.

I like it

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

I was trying to replace the old lunker that my dog loves to have a tug of war with. She does bite into it and I have had to sew it up a bit. I know it is not intended for chewing, so expected to repair it. Decided to get another, however, Ruff Wear does not make the larger size. The medium is small for us. Still, we will have it to play tug of war with! Favorite toy.

Outstanding

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

This is my second purchase of this toy. The old ones are still in use after years as a reward toy for my large male. The only one I have ever had to throw out was when my new puppy used it as a chew toy. Unsurpassed as a tug toy for land and water.

My little 10 lb. dog absolutely loves this toy in the pool. She dives in after it all day long and refuses to play with any other toy in the pool. She loves it so much I ordered 4 back up linkers just in case anything happens to it.

Tank is a tireless swimmer and fetcher. His Lunker takes a lot of abuse through being mouthed, shaken, tugged at through the slots of the dock boards and dragged around the yard for hours on end. He loves it and I'm delighted with it's durability and functionality. I'm ordering a back up because cottage life without his Lunker would be unthinkable for us both!

Didn't last a minute

Would you recommend this product?.: No

My dog is both a happy chewer of his kongs and is an avid swimmer and retriever and can do so in the lake for 45+ minutes with a good solid rubber Remington water throw. I happily opened his package thinking he might enjoy another fun water throw, but he completely destroyed it into a million pieces in the house within a minute or so and then I had to vacuum up a hundred pieces of cut up fabric pieces that made up the inside stuffing. That was the fasted wasted money I ever spent. Sorry, but true

Well made, durable, perfect for us

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My person found this for me in, of all places, a motorway service station (Tebay, Westmorland, M6). I am a soft mouthed dog and don't like hard toys that smack me in the mouth, but I do like a bit of resistance. I don't like the oversoft squashy toys for the manly job of acrobatic toy catching and retrieving. When I go out, she says 'toy' and I go find it wherever it is in the house and take it on my walks, proudly carrying it everywhere. For me this is my top toy for retrieving. I have other toys for other things, but being a retriever, I have most fun with this. She didn't know it floats, so it will be off to the lake then.

I would recommend this product for retrieving, but not for other kinds of play. My dogs greatly enjoyed chewing and playing tug with this toy... for the hour it took them to destroy it.

Have only been able to use it a couple times. Typically these type of toys get destroyed on the first use. This one has lasted two trips and still looks new, so for that it is better than the ones I've picked up at pet stores. Another great Ruff Wear product!

Love it, but doesn't hold up to the shark teeth long!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Actually first I purchased the large... it was a big hit until I lost it in a tree. When I came back with a stick to get it down, someone had already made off with it... So then I got a medium. Dogs LOVED it. But the material is a little too slick and it does not stand up to the shark teeth very well at all. It got shredded really fast. And that was only interactive play in which I rewarded obedience exercises with tug play. I probably won't buy another just because its not worth the expense of replacing it so often.

Brodie is an agressive chewer, if your dog is, then this is not the product for you. Brodie chewed it into 2 pieces in the first few days. However, he loves it and now when playing fetch, I have to touch the slobbery part.

This has been the only toy/training tool to survive throughout the years! No they are not indestructable, but if your dog likes to have something in his mouth this is the item. Our dog knows it by it's special name - Woobie. He sleeps with it, he carries it on walks, and will fetch until he collapses. It has been on every camping and outing since he was two (now eleven). I am on my 6th woobie...worth every penny.

We have two lunkers. Our dog loooves to carry them around on walks, and to fetch it out of the lake. The first has lasted better than the second. He doesn't usually chew number one, but he started on number two and the cover ripped pretty easily. The insides don't look real healthy for a dog.

DO NOT BUY

Would you recommend this product?.: No

The insides of the Lunker are clearly left over pieces of scrap fabric/canvas. My Golden Retriever almost didn't make it after she ate some of the "stuffing". FOUR THOUSAND dollars later and major surgery to remove 8" long strips of fabric from her intestines, she thankfully is recovering.
Unfortunately, you are forced to rate at least one star.

Good

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

Very tuggable. The ropes come off pretty quickly but I just replaced with my own. The only real problem I have had is that the most aggressive tuggers on our team have managed to puncture the fabric with teeth while tugging. Then it's confetti land and the stuffing is everywhere. I bought all 3 sizes to see what would work best and the medium is the one for us. It's my Mal's toy of choice because of it's size and softer texture.

Fun and Tough but full of stink!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My dogs love this toy. Only the Malinois gets to play with it because the APBTs are way too hard on toys for it to last more than a few tosses with them. Its perfect for a Malinois and she LOVES it! 3 human complaints. 1) The rope on the large lunker is too long. My dog likes to shake it a lot and the rope knot kept smacking her right in the eyes so I shortened the rope to about 3 inches. 2) The knots came undone after the first few tosses and the rope detached itself. I had to retie it, cut it re-knot and re-weld the knot. 3) After the first week of use and religious sun/ air drying, this thing stinks to high heaven of mildew/ mold. Its bad. I just threw it in the wash with some Dr. Bronnner's and vinegar but who knows if it will improve. PeeeEEW.

Both of my dogs enjoy fetching it and has held up for over a year. Mine is strictly for outside use and for fetching. No tug of war or chewing for fun. When I pull out the lunker the boys know what time it is and they love it.

Perfect water toy!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

The lunker is solid and is holding up very well! Odie loves to mouth everything, and it is still ticking! We are smart enough to keep an eye on him and not let him rip and tear though. He loves it in the water and it is much safer than a stick. We found that out the hard way after paying over 1000 bucks to remove slivers from his throat. Bottom line if you have a water dog, or any fetch loving dog, this toy rocks!

not lab safe if lab is left alone with it :)

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My boy is a Chewbucka... the rope, the black binding, and the stuffing were not impervious to my sweet angel. He loves to chew and destroy. It would work if your labrador was not so "silly" - or simply make sure you hide it and only play when you have Mummy and Pupplet time or Daddy and Pupplet time. :) If you have supervised dog time it will last for a season of fun!

Great for tug, not chewing, confetti filled!

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

As a pure tug toy, it worked well. Soft so the dog and get a solid grip with out slipping or the need to re-bite. Good rope to grasp and keep your distance or to tie to your pack or belt while walking/working. The problem, like most toys is when you let your dog sit and chew on it. His puppy-toy-destruction skills meant this toy didn't stand a chance. He was able to pull the seams apart and the rope got shreaded quickly. One other note, once he opened up the body of the toy, we were suprised to see that it was filled with small approx 1" pieces of cloth material. I'm assuming they recycle the scrap pieces from all the items they make(a good thing) but be forwarned, it is one giagantic mess when it breaks open! My only suggestion to them would be maybe stuff it with a rag or larger scraps so when it does break/rip open it won't look like a pinata party at your house! Again, if you use it for tug only, and restrict it's use to supervised sessions, it is great and fairly durable.

fun, but lacks durability

Would you recommend this product?.: Yes!

My dog practically destroyed this in an afternoon. The rope handle was quickly severed and the black binding at the top was easily ripped away. There are even holes in the fabric of the toy itself. We don't play with it much anymore because there's not much left to it. I unfortunately got the "special edition" version of the fern green in the medium size several months ago, so now it cannot be replaced....
